vista so my printer could work! but I've turned on and off the computer many times since that and no problems I don't have the windows 7 disc, as I used my University's MSDN to install windows 7 on the computer Can anyone help? Monday, April 05, 2010 2:46 PM Reply | Quote Answers 3 Sign in to vote Hi, Since it works in Safe Mode, the root cause can be the hardware driver. Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you perform a Device Clean Boot to narrow down the cause. Device Clean Boot ============== Please unplug all unnecessary devices to test the issue. In this situation, your system will only have the basic hardware devices and it should be more stable. If it is inconvenient to unplug the devices, we can disable them in Device Manager. Please refer to the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter. Please click “Allow” if the User Account Control window is prompted. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties"

Windows 7: BSOD after login, error 0x00000051 REGISTRY_ERROR 30 Jul 2014 #1 pupfuzz Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit 1 posts blue screen error windows 7 crash dump BSOD after login, error 0x00000051 REGISTRY_ERROR Hi, My machine was running smoothly until recently it became infected with adware. I tried to remove the uninvited software through Uninstall Programs in control panel, and also by using Malwarebytes https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/1539aa70-4ee7-48ce-95b7-75a7c4110295/help-getting-bsod-windows-7-with-registry-error?forum=w7itproperf to quarantine anything it found objectionable. It then seemed to work fine after all of this and booted up OK. I recently also tried to upgrade the nVidia driver, and there was an error about not being able to update a file in use, so the install failed. I rebooted the computer, re-ran the nVidia installer, and that also completed without any further errors. The computer also rebooted OK after that. However days later, now I get a BSOD after http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/339780-bsod-after-login-error-0x00000051-registry_error.html login. Windows boots fine up to the point where I log in with my password. Once I log in, BSOD occurs. If I wait for awhile before logging in (all drivers have loaded), then the BSOD is immediate after entering my login password. On the other hand, if I log in immediately as soon as the login screen appears, I can see my desktop and use the menus etc for 10-20 seconds before BSOD occurs (I'm assuming that's when all drivers have completed loading). If I boot in safe mode, it is stable and no crash occurs. I also ran msconfig and disabled all programs in startup. No difference. At first, the BSOD error was "BAD_POOL_HEADER". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the nvidia driver, and now the BSOD error has changed to "REGISTRY_ERROR". If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve my problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Previously I've never had any issues with this computer. Everything's at stock. I'm also in the Windows 10 preview build, and should be receiving early updates if I understand that portion of the program correctly. Previously, to try and remedy the issue myself, I recorded footage of blue screen my desktop and then left the computer idle, with task manager on the screen viewing what was using up most of the CPU, because I had previously discovered my computer would jump in CPU usage shortly before crashing. It was something being run in the background by Windows Defender, and conveniently Windows Defender has something that begins running in 4 minutes after idle, so I turned Windows Defender off, and that solved the issue for most of the day yesterday, until Windows blue screen error Defender turned itself on again and crashed the computer with the same error. Turning off Windows Defender has not solved the issue since, and I've even tried permanently turning it off through Group Policy, but now even when off, the computer crashes the same way. Without turning it off through Group Policy, it turns itself on almost immediately after being turned off. It has also had about 5 updates throughout the day. My temporary solution is to move the mouse a bit every once in awhile if I'm away from my computer, otherwise I get the BSOD again. Thanks for the assistance in advance! I hope I've provided enough information. Edit: I just visited the "Security and Maintenance" tab, clicked "Start Maintenance", and that caused the BSOD almost immediately. It would seem that this automatic maintenance activates after the computer is left idle for a few minutes, and is the culprit. I have no idea why though. Before the BSOD happens, CPU, Memory, and Disk usage rise really quickly. This is just right now with Chrome open This is the peak after starting "Start Maintenance", 10 seconds before the BSOD This is the final second before the BSOD Attached Files TANNER-PC-Mon_09_21_2015__12044_29.zip (1.19 MB, 7 views) Last edited by Conkerkid11; 21 Sep 2015 at 05:06.
