How to Repair BSOD 0x0000c1f5 Started by ComputerIlliterate20 , May 26 2013 05:59 PM blue screen error Please log in to reply 3 replies to this topic #1 ComputerIlliterate20 ComputerIlliterate20 Members 2 posts OFFLINE Posted 26 May 2013 - 05:59 PM To anyone, I have a Compaq Presario C769US Notebook PC. It's had a nasty habit of overheating and switching off in the past, but just recently it did this and now when I start it I get a blue screen with ****STOP: 0x0000c1f5 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I can't get into safe mode. All attempts to get into safe mode or any other thing leads back to the aforementioned screen. I don't have any installation or recovery discs. I'd take it to a professional, but I simply can't afford it. Is there anyway I can fix this myself, or will I just have to wait and save up money? Can you buy the appropriate installation disc? Please, any help will me greatly appreciated. Page 1 of 3 1 2 3 Next > Advertisement EMozartKV313 Thread Starter Joined: Jul 9, 2004 Messages: 95 I was installing the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and I shut the power off during installation, because I thought it was frozen. When the computer booted back up it went to that nasty blue screen with a stop error message: 0x0000C1F5. The computer didn't come with a Vista CD, so I cannot use that for recovery. I want to avoid doing a system recovery at all costs, because hardly anything is backed up. Please help! I even tried to reboot with the last known good configuration....I let that run all night and it was still trying to boot. Am I going to have to get a new hard drive? Is there any way to recover the documents form the hard drive? (i.e. purchase a USB external and hook it up that way? Can that cause damage to the computer I hook it up to?) This is so sad EMozartKV313, Jun 23, 2008 #3 dodge_viper Joined: Aug 15, 2006 Messages: 127 what did u mean by "i let it run"? was it running properly? did u buy it from dell or s'where? in that case u can contact them.else you can download linux live CD try to boot the system using that go to ftp://csociety-ftp.ecn.purdue.edu/pub/knoppix/ download KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD-2007-01-04-EN.iso burn it to a cd boot using that dodge_viper, Jun 23, 2008 #4 EMozartKV313 Thread Starter Joined: Jul 9, 2004 Messages: 95 I let the computer run for 8 hours after I checked the Boot from last known good configuration and it didn't do anything. I have the Ubuntu Live CD in the computer now and have booted it in the Ubuntu program. Under the partitions I can view the entire error message. Ubuntu will not resize the windows partition because there is an error message. Here is a summary of what the error message says: Cluster accounting failed at ###### (0x#f#cb): extra cluster in $bitmap (This repeats 9 times with different numbers in each # spot) Then..it says this: Filesystem check failed! Run chkdsk /f on Windows them reboot it TWICE! The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was and will be made to NTFS by this softwa
