I had Windows XP professional on my computer. So I had to get windows XP professional, then I changed my computer BIOS to boot from DVD/CD drive. Then I restarted my computer and it did that and then it asked me if I wanted to reformat or repair the disk. So I typed in "R" and it took me to recovery console and then in there I typed "CHKDSK" after few minutes it came with results and then after this I typed in "FIXBOOT" and pressed enter. This command makes a new startup sector on the system partition. After that I typed in exit and then it restarted my computer. After your restart it will ask if you want to start your system in safe mode, regular mode and other mode. Than choose the "last good configuration" and after that your computer starts normally with no BSOD problems or error and you still have all the data available on your computer. HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting Error Messages on a blue screen Blue Screen that may Occur During Startup or Boot (Windows XP) There are many reasons that a computer does not startup or boot into the Windows operating system. If your computer will not start or boot, you will see or hear symptoms to indicate the general area of the problem. If you are not sure what the problem is, see Overview of How to Troubleshoot Problems When a Computer Does Not Start Up blue screen reboot or Boot Properly. Startup Symptom: Computer displays a blue screen or continually re-starts Use this document if the LED lights glow or you hear the sound of a fan or hard drive spinning, and the HP or Compaq logo displays briefly, but then the notebook stops responding and displays a blue screen. In some cases, the computer may be operating in Windows but suddenly crash and stop responding. In most cases, an error message is displayed on the blue screen, the computer does not respond to commands typed on the keyboard, and it is necessary to press and hold the power button for 15 seconds or more, to turn off the computer. The most common cause of this problem is conflicting instructions from multiple programs or drivers. Installing a new program that is not compatible with the hardware or another program may cause a blue screen error. DO THIS FIRST - Perform a hard reset If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories! Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds. Reconnect

When Windows encounters certain situations, it halts and the resulting diagnostic information is displayed in white text on a blue screen. The appearance of these errors is where the term "Blue Screen" or "Blue Screen of Death" has come from. Blue Screen errors occur when: Windows detects an error it cannot recover from without losing data Windows detects that critical OS data has become corrupted Windows detects that hardware has failed in a non-recoverable fashion The exact text displayed has changed over the years from a dense wall of information in Windows NT 4.0 to the comparatively sparse message employed by modern versions of Windows. Troubleshooting Common Blue Screen Error Messages Stop 0x000000ED (UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME) Stop 0x0000007B (INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE) These two errors have similar causes and the same troubleshooting steps apply to both of them. These stop codes always occur during the startup process. When you encounter one of these stop codes, the following has happened: The system has completed the Power-On Self-Test (POST). The system has loaded NTLDR and transferred control of the startup process to NTOSKRNL (the kernel). NTOSKRNL is confused. Either it cannot find the rest of itself, or it cannot read the file system at the location it believes it is stored. When troubleshooting this error, your task is to find out why the Windows kernel is confused and fix the cause of the confusion. Try toggling the SATA controller mode in the BIOS. RAID settings You may receive this error if you've been ex
