Windows Xp Blue Screen Error On Startup
OFFLINE Local time:12:12 PM Posted 08 June 2013 - 07:24 AM Hello, I've recently purchased a USB webcam and upon plugging it in some drivers were automatically updated/installed (I do not remember which ones). Since then, everytime I shut down my computer, I receive a blue screen of death with the error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" at the top and the file "si3132.sys" mentioned at the bottom. I've searched online for some solutions but wasn't able to find anything. My computer seems to run fine but any help to remove the error upon shut down would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! restarting my computer, it freezes in the shut down process and then I get the blue screen of death. It’s been happening blue screen error in windows 7 and restart a lot more lately. I took pictures of it with my iPhone to see what it says but it’s too much to write out - but there’s something in there about a driver.
Blue screens can http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/497361/blue-screen-of-death-on-shut-down-driver-irql-not-less-or-equal/ happen for a variety of reasons. These days, driver issues are probably number one on that list, tied with problems at shut down. Gathering information First, it’s an excellent idea to take a picture of the blue screen. It’s a good way to get the information to someone who can help, or just to have available to look at later as you’re researching the problem yourself. I would start with trying to identify the https://askleo.com/what-do-i-do-about-a-bluescreen-on-shutdown/ driver that’s involved. That’s most likely going to be based on the name of the file that was referenced in the blue screen. If the name of the driver is not obvious from the file name, I would Google it. Hopefully, that will at least lead you to the specific hardware that’s involved in this problem. Check hardware Then, make sure that hardware is working properly. Hardware failures, particularly intermittent ones, often manifest as blue screens. The hardware does something that it’s never supposed to do, and the software (the driver) gets confused. Drivers will often handle those kind of failures less than gracefully, and then you get a blue screen. If the hardware isn’t being used and it’s removable, I’d be really tempted to take it out, at least for a while. That way you can see if the problem goes with it. Next, I’d make sure you have the latest drivers for that hardware. If it’s an add-on component, that means going to the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers. If it’s a basic system component, I’d check next with the computer manufacturer itself. Get up-to-date And finally, I’d make absolutely certain that Windows itself is up to date and that any possible optional driver updates offered by Windows update are installed. If all that fails, I’d probably find aSubscribe to our newsletter Search Home Forum Ask a question Latest questions Windows Mac Linux Internet Video Games Software Hardware Mobile Network Virus Café How To Download Ask a question Windows Software Mac Software http://ccm.net/forum/affich-28196-xp-startup-prob-blue-screen-reboot-repeat Linux Software Android Apps BlackBerry Apps iPhone Apps Windows Phone Apps News Encyclopedia Home Forum Windows Windows XP Report XP startup prob: blue screen, reboot, repeat[Solved/Closed] Ask a question hepdoll - Latest answer on Dec 18, 2012 04:46PM Hello, I am new here, and I'm desperate for some help with my Windows XP Pro machine. (I think I'm running SP2, but blue screen I can't be 100% sure; it's been a long time since I used this machine.) Apologies in advance for this post's length; I really am not sure what to do here and have tried some things already, and would really appreciate any help you can give me. I have not used this computer for the past couple of years, and the blue screen error few times I've tried to turn it on recently, I get a blue screen that reads: STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image ole32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum. The way it happens is that after the Windows XP logo screen shows up (the one with the "loading" bar), I get a blue screen that flashes so quickly I can't read it, and then the computer restarts. I can get the blue screen to stay by hitting F8 repeatedly as the computer boots up, then selecting "Disable automatic restart on system failure" from the menu. Also from that F8 screen, I have tried starting in the following modes but the same problem happens, where it gets to the XP logo/loading screen, then has the blue screen flash and reboots: - safe mode - last known good configuration - debugging mode I have been pointed to this page (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326687&Product=winxp) but I am a little confused by it, especially because I don't have a Windows 98 or ME disk.
