Otherwise, you will experience the "blue screen" issue. To change that setting, you need to do the following: 1. Press F2 when booting up the computer 2. Select 'Config', then 'Serial ATA (SATA)' 3. Change controller option to 'Compatibility' / 'IDE' View all 14 comments Report krishna- Apr 21, 2010 01:39PM superb....it really worked....intersting.. thnkz...a lott.... ummmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaa with regards krishna Report NeS718- Apr 22, 2010 03:28PM I have a Dell Latitude C610 Laptop it was Runni

The appearance of these errors is where the term "Blue Screen" or "Blue Screen of Death" has come from. Blue Screen errors occur when: Windows detects an error it cannot recover from without losing data Windows detects that critical OS data has become corrupted Windows detects that hardware has failed in a non-recoverable fashion The exact text displayed has changed over the years from a dense wall of information in Windows NT 4.0 to the comparatively sparse message employed by modern versions of Windows. (Figure 1) A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options
