Partmgr.sys Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
2002 Location Ulaan Baator GooGoo: Frog Posts 38,174 [RESOLVED] Blue screen of death, PartMgr.sys, RAM, etc. I'm having a strange problem, which will take some detail to describe. I've been getting a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (blue screen of death) 'caused by' PartMgr.sys every time I attempt to start Windows. I currently have Windows XP SP2 and I always get the latest updates. I did a bit of searching and it's possible that my what does partmgr.sys do PartMgr.sys file is corrupt. So, if any of you are currently on a machine that has a single partition (C drive only), could you please upload your PartMgr.sys file here? You will find it in C:\windows\system32\drivers\ To add to this strange problem though, it might also have something to do with my RAM. I currently have 3 RAM chips in my machine. Ram1 = 256 MB Ram2 = 256 MB Ram3 = 1GB If I have just 256 MB of RAM in the machine, it will work fine! In other words, I can have either Ram1 or Ram2 in the machine, but not together. Ram3 alone will not work though. Which is why I think it limits itself to 256 MB of RAM. There have been no software or hardware changes recently that would cause this. I'd like the 'Reformat your machine' option as a last resort. To further add to this, Safe Mode (which is what I'm using now) always works. Safe Mode does not seem to care how much RAM is in the machine. I'd appreciate any advice you guys give me. Last edited by mendhak; Jan 16th, 2007 at 04:27 PM. The most common error of cause of Partmgr.sys is the Blue Screen, and BSOD is mostly caused by a recent change in your computer's settings or hardware. Thanks Feb 22, 2009 #1 Route44 TechSpot Ambassador Posts: 11,966 +70 Other than your XP Home OS and your AVG do you have anything else in common? I once ran the Sunbelt Firewall in both home PCs and I was getting BSODs in both. The only thing they had in common was this firewall. Once I uninstalled stability returned. Both of you are running AVG and I am taking a guess here that it might be your cause. The 0x50 error can happen due to several issues and antivirus software is one of them. Uninstall, not just disable, AVG. Their latest version 8 is causing many people difficulties and it is bloated as well. There is also an AVG removal tool that you are going to need to use because these softwares are known to leave remanants of themselves behind. You should be able to find it on their website. Reboot once you uninstall. Have you gained stability? Let us know. Feb 22, 2009 #2 ghinfl TS Rookie Topic Starter How can I uninstall AVG if I can't get the computer to boot up?
