BSOD during CHKDSK and Randomly During Use Started by soggyfish , Oct 11 2013 02:04 PM Please log in to reply 14 replies to this topic #1 soggyfish soggyfish Members 9 posts OFFLINE Local time:02:03 AM Posted 11 October 2013 - 02:04 PM Hello, Lately I have been receiving the lovely BSOD when I am not actively doing something on my computer, and blue screen check disk sometimes when I am online. I have tried to run CHKDSK to determine if there is an issue, however, it never makes it past stage 4 and 38%, instead diving me another BSOD. I recently was infected by spigot and that lead to other infections that I have already removed. I am afraid that I may have deleted a kernel that is needed. Does anyone have any advice? I realize that I will have to get logs and such, but am unsure of what information is necessary and how to obtain it. I thank you very much for any help offered in advance. The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. Click on the Sart orb and type cmd in the Search programs and files box. In the pane above the search box Programs will appear with cmd below it, right click on cmd and choose Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmati

See in Thread ↓#1 jefro May 1, 2012 at 12:40:27 Dell has one of two ways to reload the OS. One is to use some factory supplied or user created disks. Second is to use a disk or F key at boot that can access some portion of the hard drive. If that portion of the hard drive has been damaged or some memory issue or hard drive controller issue then you may have to diag all that first.Start with memtest. Get ultimate boot cd and run some of the hard drive diags or other diags or better still, get the actual hard drive support tools from the OEM. However, when I turned the computer on a couple of hours later, I got a blue screen. I turned off the computer and re-started; first I tried to re-start from the prompt screen to run from the last known working configuration, but it went to the blue screen again. I then tried from safe mode, but still it wouldn't work. According to the Dell website, the blue screen error code (0X00000024) means that there is corrupt data and the run CHKDSK/F. Windows 7: Check disk failing, disk read errors, blue screen, computer going slow Page 1 of 2 1 2 > 15 May 2013 #1 Alj Windows 7 Home premium x64 4 posts Check disk failing, disk read errors, blue screen, computer going slow As of late my PC has been going very slow, stuttering, freezing for a minute occasionally, and sometimes when I restart I get a disk read error that requires me to turn the PC off and on again. I ran check disk using command prompt, it got to 12% before it said it had found corrupt files, now it gets up to 37% verification before it finds corrupt files but cannot repair them. I tried running system repair from the windows 7 disk, but it fails. I've used western digital to run tests on my hard drive, but there were no problems found. dont know how to fix this now, i've been told its probably the hard drive failing but the scan says otherwise. I can really tell how it takes a lot longer to boot up, log in, even open internet browser takes a lot longer than before. help appreciated My System Specs Computer type PC/Desktop OS Windows 7 Home premium x64 Alj View Public Profile Find More Posts by Alj . 15 May 2013 #2 gregrocker 50,855 posts Are you running the Western Digital Data Lifeguard CD ISO (extract first) burned to CD using WIndows Image burner, then booted to run the Extended Scan? This should give you a definitive diagnosis of the HD, which appears from the Disk CHeck to be failing. If the HD checks out I would do is try a perfect test Clean Reinstall to the same or another HD to know for sure.
