but then I got the final blue screen which I cannot get past. It says c000021a FATAL SYSTEM ERROR, THE WINDOWS LOGON PROCESS SYSTEM TERMINATED UNEXPECTEDLY WITH A STATUS 0xc0000020 (0x00000000 0x00000000) THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN.I tried to use the Dell reinstallation disk but still the above blue screen came up. I cannot even get in with F5 safe mode. Is this the end and is a new computer on the horizon? Press F12 as soon as you see the dell logo, then choose either ide drive/hard drive diagnostics or boot to utility partition.. Posted by sara-ann on 27 Oct 2008 14:44 Acting on your advice, I pressed F12 and first selected the diagnostics, and after this was done the computer told me to reboot. It then went back to the blue screen, same as above. I then did it again this time selecting BOOT TO UTILITY PARTITION, it didnt and went straight to the blue screen again. I think you must be right about the bad hard disk drive, thanks for replying. Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. System Error blue screen, windows wont' start up Discussion in 'Software' started by amandajsmom, Jan 9, 2011. amandajsmom Private E-2 Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows XP. I http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/fatal-system-error-blue-screen-windows-wont-start-up.230822/ was doing a google search for (don't laugh) the cost of a veggie tray http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/519844/bsod-stopc00021a-fatal-system-error-on-dell-inspiron-910/ at costco. Found an inncent looking link, clicked on it, and was sent to a weird page. Exited the page and right away my AVG (free version) started warning me that a threat was detected. I told AVG to remove the threat, and AVG said something about "white listed - cannot remove file, attached to system file". I blue screen panicked and shut down the computer. AVG is the only virus software I use, and I occasionally do a scan/sweep with ad-aware (free version). Now, when I try to reboot, I get the windows screen, then the blue screen with "Stop: C000021a fatal system error blablabla the system has shut down". I have the original CD/software for the operating system. I also have an external hard drive that backs up all my dell blue screen computer files via mimeo (computer tech set it up for us, thank goodness!!). The last back up was done before the bug hit. I turned the power off on the external drive for now, as I don't know if the bug will hit it as well. What steps do I take next? I think I need to re-load windows from the disks, but that sounds scary, I'm afraid I'll ruin something. And will that remove the bug that caused all this? will I need to search for malware before I can trust my computer (or is this a virus)? Then how do I re-load all my files from the external drive to the computer (copy and paste??). Thank you so much for your help!! amandajsmom, Jan 9, 2011 #1 Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title! Greetings, amandajsmom. Can you boot into Safe Mode? If you can, then do so and run a full AVG scan while disconnected from the internet. Reboot once the scan and any quarantine/cleaning process finishes, and see if your symptoms change. Caliban, Jan 9, 2011 #2 amandajsmom Private E-2 Hi Caliban, In short - no, I can't boot in safe mode. When I power up the computer, I hit F8, selected boot in safe mode. The compu

The system has been shut down. I ran the Dell diagnostics from an external CD player, and it passed all the tests. Yet, upon reboot, still cant get past this error. Should I reinstall Windows XP which would erase all my files? What steps could I do before that as a last resort? Edited by zixi, 06 January 2014 - 09:17 AM.
