Make priority to boot from CD drive first. DISABLE the HARD DRIVE(important for downgrading...) SAVE and EXIT 3)

February 1, http://daily-grind.net/solved-blue-screen-of-death-when-booting-from-winxp-cd/ 2015 Solved: ‘Blue Screen Of Death' When Booting From WinXP CD Here is a quick tip for fixing an issue that caused me some grief this afternoon when I was trying to downgrade an installation of Vista back to XP on an ASUS F6A notebook computer. This fix may well apply to a lot of other systems too. When I tried booting from my WinXP installation disc, the system began loading all the files and drivers as it normally would and then froze and went to the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death or BSOD. After a lot of rooting around it turned out a setting in the BIOS was the cause of the problem. To fix it, I simply entered the computers BIOS while it was booting up by pressing F2 (most computers use the Del key). I then went to ‘Advanced' -> ‘IDE Configuration' -> Changed ‘SATA Operation Mode' from ‘Enhanced' to ‘Compatible' and then Exit & Save Changes by pressing F10. Boot from your XP CD and voila! It should work. Happy XPee'ing 😉

I just got my first job after graduating from college and looking for a job for the past year. After my long job search I just started last week and have run into a major problem I blue screen hope you can help me with. They have given me a brand new Dell Precision T3500 desktop computer loaded with Windows 7 Unltimate. I have to downgrade this computer to XP Professional. They have licenses to downgrade the software through the Microsoft Volume Licensing program. I created a boot-up CD from an image that microsoft provides for XP installation disc. Thinking I can use the CD as a boot-up disc I restart the computer and it boots from CD, XP files start to load blue screen error and then all of a sudden I get the blue screen of death. Any idea why the bootup XP cd may be getting the blue screen of death while loading? I have been struggling with this problem all day today and really would appreciate some of your comments. I've been trying to format a Dell Dimension E520 for about a month now and I just figured it out. Everytime I tried to format from the XP CD it'd stop a few mins after it started with a blue screen error. It turns out this has someting to do with the RAID setting in the BIOS (F2 at startup). GO TO: - F2 at startup - Drives - SATA Operation in this option it is set at RAID: On the only other option is RAID: Autodetect / ATA set it to RAID: Autodetect / ATA and save and exit now restart with the XP CD in the drive and boot from CD. everything should run smooth and normal now. it worked first shot for me and I haven't had a problem. the Dimension E520 is a decent machine with XP on it. does everything it needs to do for my GF who is an occasional Comp user. it was a paper weight with Vista on it hope this helps crappy dell users out there. (This worked for DELL computers (PC's) I have encountered. I have no idea if this will work on any other machine) it seems lawyers are noobs who love writing in caps and screaming.\ Nice job! I'm gonna do it :) Is it possible to do this with linux too? I'd love to learn linuxits an old post but i just want to say i installed Lubuntu (lightweight Ubuntu) un a DELL C840 (it came out with XP) and it works like a charmLinux isn't that big of a transition anymore......check out Ubuntu or Simply Mepis there two excellent version
