The next time you try to start it, hit f8 as it is starting up and then choose the option to "Disable automatic restart on system failure" This will allow you to see the blue screen error code. it mainly consists of 2 seperate parts that are important, an error message near the top, which will say something like UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, and then the error code near the bottom which will look something like 0x000000ED. If this is infact the message you get, 99% of the time it is a bad hard drive. If you get a different code, such as c0000021a, or 0x0000007E, or 0x0000008e, the problem could still be hard drive, but it is more likely memory or virus. In your situation I would strongly suspect memory, and you are in luck because the dv6000 has 2 modules that are easy to access. You will have to remove the compartment on the back, that is in the middle. It is marked
