When the issue arise, the message, "Overclocking Failed! Please enter setup to re-configure your system." will be displayed on start up before the system goes into boot sequence. So, how can you fix this? A typical Overclocking Failed! error. What causes the problem? The K-type processors from Intel can be safely overclocked. The manufacture Asus has several built-in functio

However, ambitious overclockers have been arguing for a long time on which version should be used. Version 27.9 makes use of the overclocking error codes AVX2 instruction set extension, meaning that Windows 7 users will need service pack 1 installed, the developers have implemented additional FMA3 instructions as of version 5.28. In practice, the newer version will need a significantly higher core voltage for the CPU, with an according impact on consumption and load. This raises the question which version is closer to reality, especially since very few applications and especially games make use of the new instruction set extensions at all. Our community's opinion on the subject is divided, too. It's just a matter of taste. But rest assured that, at present, there is no imminent need to get stable FMA3 tests on the chips. Unlike many other testing tools, Prime95 has a big advantage: you can selectively explore all important and secondary voltages. For our tests we opted for the older version because we have a longer experience with it. Prime95 checks the overclocked CPU's stability. Prime-Runs: Prime95 lets you easily explore the range of the required voltages for all parameters. The 1344K custom run

Memtest ran for over 12 hours with no errors. Memory is good. I am running Prime95 in blend mode and it's crashing after not even 5 minutes. I have my multi set to 42 4200mhz and my voltage set manually to 1.200. My cpu cache ratio is set to 39. Everything else is set to default. What could be causing the stop 124 errors? I am not doing a crazy overclock here. Please help as I'd like to get this stable at least at 4200mhz. Windows runs fine and I can play games no problem. Just when I start prime95 it bluescreens after 5-8 mins.My heatsink is a CM 212 Evo and my cpu has been delidded. Temps are fine showing at 60-69c.Thanks for the help. 6 answers Last reply Sep 15, 2013 Best Answer Sep 15, 2013 More about stop 124 errors overclocking haswell rmpumperSep 15, 2013, 3:53 AM 1. Don't run Prime95 with Haswell CPUs. Use Aida64 instead,2. 124 means that you vcore is too low.3. If the CPU is stable in everyday use, what's the point is running stability test with unreasistic load? NickyBSep 15, 2013, 3:59 AM 1.200 is to low for 4200mhz? Geez. I must of got a dud chip. Does not even boot at 4.6GHz In any case, if your system is stable while gaming and working with the usual software, there is no need to increase the voltage. As I said, stress testing puts unrealistic load on the chip. 4Ryan6Sep 15, 2013, 9:42 AM NickyB said: Trying to oc my 4770k on a Asus Z87-A board with 16gigs of Crucial Ballistix Sport memory.
