Published on Oct 22, 2014Problem:When calling a registry file (.reg) from within a batch file (.bat), the following error message is displayed: "Cannot import filename.reg: Error openingthe file. There https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKoa1mALraI may be a disk or file system error."Solution: 1. Eliminate spaces from the path of the registry file (example: instead of "C:\folder name\file name.reg" use "C:\folder_name\file_name.reg")2. Either use an absolute path for the registry file inside the batch file, or write %~dp0 in front of the registry file inside the batch file to use the current directory as path. "Not all data was successfully written to the registry. some keys are open by the system or other https://forum.piriform.com/?showtopic=38316 process, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation" Posted on July 28, 2013 /Under Windows 7 /With 10 Comments [wp_ad_camp_1]Error occurred while trying to add/import a registry key file "Not all data cannot import was successfully written to the registry. some keys are open by the system or other process, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation" Not all data was successfully written to the registry. some keys are open by the system or other process, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation As the error message indicates("some keys are open by the system or other process, or error accessing the you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation"), it is due to lack of permission and/or the registry value is in use.. Solution for Cannot import to registry error (Note:This method is for importing a registry key, or few keys, its not intended to import whole registry backup Which usually not a good idea at all !! ) To bypass "Cannot import to registry" error and force add the registry value, follow the below, steps [wp_ad_camp_2] Download pstools (PSTools.zip) from http://technet.microsoft.com Then extract PSTools.zip it in to a folder.. open a command prompt run as administrator (1)Then change directory to the location where you have extracted the PSTools.zip (Mine it is C:\Users\araa\Desktop\PSTools ) (2) open registry editor with psexec with following parameters.. -s -i -d The command should be psexec -s -i -d regedit Run registry editor using Windows system Account (psexec -s -i -d regedit) (psexec -s -i -d regedit will invoke a registry editor under the powerful privileges of Windows system Account) Then registry editor will be opened and through file menu import the registry key you want.. Import to Registry That's it .. you are done.. Registry import success message Practical usage of above tools can be found here : Application fail

Error accessing the registry - trying to use reg backup Started by crossing my fingers , Mar 30 2013 08:23 AM Please log in to reply 14 replies to this topic #1 OFFLINE crossing my fingers crossing my fingers Newbie Members 7 posts Gender:Female Posted 30 March 2013 - 08:23 AM Hi,I'd like to start by saying I have used the search feature and tried finding the specific answer but have had no luck (although it could be out there).I ran CCleaner for the first time the day before yesterday (3/28). I saved the .reg files so that I could restore those files in the event that I had issues after having used the program. (disclaimer: I'm no computer wiz, but I have grown up w/ computers since the internet was around so I'm not a total dummy either). I've read through the help section on Piriform and it seems pretty straight forward. Locate the .reg file that were saved and double click to restore them. But when I do I get an error message X Registry Editor: Cannot import C:\Users\Nancy\Documents\CCleaners Registry Backups\cc_2013038_170248.reg: Error accessing the registry.I ran the registry cleaner, then I did the cleaner, and to be thorough I reran the registry cleaner. So I have two .reg files saved. (maybe I shouldn't have done it twice?) anyway, I'm running windows 7, not sure what other info I should include. I would really love to get some advice / guidance from a more knowledgeable user if possible. Thanks in advance Edited by Nergal, 30 March 2013 - 07:18 PM.
