I have a user 'bedgeaj_root@localhost' and it has all the permissions. But it still giving me the error : SELECT command denied to user 'bedgeaj_root'@'localhost' for table 'transactions' While searching on the net, I studied that it is some user permission issue. But I don't understand that why it is giving this error as I have given all the permission to this user. Here is the screen shot of my cPanel user permissions screen: Here goes my stack trace: Caused by: net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error executing SQL statement for : itemizedStatementReport_patientBalance at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.query.JRJdbcQueryExecuter.createDatasource(JRJdbcQueryExecuter.java:246) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRFillDataset.createQueryDatasource(JRFillDataset.java:1073) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRFillDataset.initDatasource(JRFillDataset.java:667) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRBaseFiller.setParameters(JRBaseFiller.java:1235) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRBaseFiller.fill(JRBaseFiller.java:859) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRBaseFiller.fill(JRBaseFiller.java:804) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRFillSubreport.fillSubreport(JRFillSubreport.java:652) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRSubreportRunnable.run(JRSubreportRunnable.java:59) at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRThreadSubreportRunner.run(JRThreadSubreportRunner.java:205) ... 1 more Caused by: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSynta

I reinstalled it and moved/renamed my folder with all my other files so I now have a new xampp directory that's empty and fresh. But when I try to use any database functionality it gives me error(s) like the one below: SELECT command denied to user ''@'localhost' for table 'users' command denied to What's wrong? I solved it by opening up config.inc.php in the PHPMyAdmin root folder and commenting out the line $cfg['Servers'][$i]['pmadb'] = 'phpmyadmin'; –Tamlyn Jul 26 '13 at 9:38 above answer solve my problem. –Waqas Dec 29 '14 at 18:50 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote The user has not been given privileges to read the tables. When creating an user for the database through the cpanel of your host, you can give the user the privileges. Or read this documentation to do it through MySql command, http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/grant.html share|improve this answer answered Jun 29 '13 at 4:15 Abhishek Kannan 779413 Do you know why the userid before the @-sign is empty? –velop Apr 7 '15 at 9:01 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote you can solve through Enabling the use of SELECT GRANT SELECT ON db.table TO 'user'@'localhost'; or Grant all on db.table to 'user'@'localhost'; share|improve this answer answered Jun 29 '13 at 4:44 Ranjit Kumar 313
