I did this because occasionally on some XP installations the ComponentMoveData would fail with error codes I couldn't figure out what to do about after searching documentation, this community forum, etc. When I did this it corrected those problems. They stopped happening. I then distributed my software out much more widely and now am faced with the same problem but slightly different symptoms. The one thing its suppose to do (install files) and it won't do it for some. This time the ComponentMoveData is returning a -2147024891 which after searching appears to be some form of "Access is Denied" error. The people having this installation problem have Administrative privledges on their Windows ID and can copy files fine themselves. They should be able to do what ever they want and my IS 5.5 install worked for them. I searched the forum and found quite a few references to this problem or something similar but not much help. Here's an example which completely describes my symptoms. http://community.installshield.com/s...ght=2147024891 Anything new folks might be able to share on this or a similar problem? What should one do when they hit a roadblock like this and all the google and forum searching leads to finding others with the same problem but no where is any solution given? Why should I believe if I move to IS11 I won't have this or not get a whole new set of problems?
