Keep in mind, I've been playing this game for weeks without this problem and have not installed anyprograms or touched my hardware. I eventually decided on wiping my OS for a clean install instead of posting just to see if that would fix the problem. Once I got everything up and running again I eventually started having problems again except this time with a similar but different e

Restart Dcom Server Process Launcher
for New Members. Computer Restarts - DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated windows must now restart because the power service terminated unexpectedly Discussion in 'Virus & Other Malware Removal' started by BrucePhillips, Jan 23, 2010. Thread Status: Not open what is dcom server process launcher service for further replies. Advertisement BrucePhillips Thread Starter Joined: Jan 22, 2010 Messages: 10 I am trying to help my neighbor with his computer. Every time he uses his http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/519518/windows-must-now-restart-because-the-dcom-server-process-terminated-unexpectedly/ machine, he receives one of several error messages, including "DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated" or "System Will Restart In 1 Minute" for an unidentified reason. I have helped him stop the restart using the "Shutdown -a" command, allowing Windows to fully run an AVG scan and a Spy Sweeper scan. Both reported the system as https://forums.techguy.org/threads/computer-restarts-dcom-server-process-launcher-service-terminated.896942/ clean. I've searched the web, but have not yet found a working solution that I have been able to duplicate to stop this from happening. For some reason, even though he is the sole profile and is listed as the administrator, he doesn't seem to have the ability to change certain settings. These attempts are described here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/896637-cannot-change-user-permissions.html I don't know how to fix his problem. I don't even know where to start right now. Listed below is his HijackThis log. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide. Server process launcher terminates causing Reboot Discussion in 'Software' started by Glennster, Jan 23, 2010. Glennster Private E-2 I am fairly confident this is a software and not a http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/dcom-server-process-launcher-terminates-causing-reboot.208684/ Malware problem. But am looking for expert opinion.I have run all the various spyware and http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/random-reboots-service-control-manager-and-dcom-errors.207453/ malware progams and seems nothing has been found of significance. The computer inconsistently has a generic host win32 system error upon booting up. I will attach a screen shot of the error. I can get the comp to run in diagnostic mode with MSconfig and it seems to stay on. I have tried going through and dcom server changing the settings in Mscofig to see if I can narrow down the prob. No consistency to identify. Another unusual thing is I always get an error message stating I need to be an administrator to change settings in msconfig which I am logged in as. The changes are always excepted and are changed when I log in. The DCOM server process launcher keeps terminating and rebooting comp. I have dcom server process already set the setting to not reboot with the data execution error but continues to reboot. I cannot log into safe mode it gives me blue screen error. Stop: 0x0000007E(0XC0000005,0X80537009,0XF789E508,0XF789E204) this is only in safe mode works in normal mode with only the DCOM problem. Any help to narrow down error and possible solution would be greatly appreciated. One almost consistent item is the generic host error does not come up the first time I boot after changing start up items in Msconfig. There seems to be no consistent time frame or program running which causes the reboot. The problem started about 3 days ago and NO new software has been loaded that I am aware of. Please can you help me narrow down this problem?:confused Attached Files: win 32 error screenshot.bmp File size: 70.1 KB Views: 4 Glennster, Jan 23, 2010 #1 FLLMTR Private E-2 For the past four days, I have been contending with the same problem. You are right, it is not malware. After days of using different Anti-Spyware/Malware and Anti-Virus software, I finally stumbled on a solution that I should have tried at the very beginning. In normal mode my computer will run from 2 mins to 3 hours and then lock up, needing a hard reset. I have run various malware programs, and removed Google Chrome as it seemed to be happening more when I was using that browser. Currently able to get the system to run consistently only in SAFE mode. Does this sound like a situation you might be able to help with?
