Posted by fbmcardl on 28 Apr 2007 21:38 When I reboot, I get an error message that says Memory Read Write Error, Decreasing Available Memory. On several occasions, it has truncated certain things, often with a .exe extentsion. I don't know what caused this. Only change I made was to add an external portable hard drive about 4 months ago. Need to figure out if this can be readily repaired or if I have to get a new computer. Thanks! Posted by PETER345 on 28 Apr 2007 23:14 It sounds like you have a memory problem. I would:1. reseat the RAM. That might fix it. If the contacts look "dirty", you can clean them with a clean eraser. Make sure to remove the eraser debris before reinstalling.2. test the RAM to see if it is bad (do this after 1). You can use the Dell diagnostics or memtest86+ (free and better).Peter Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
