I just bought Mass Effect on Origin so my daughter could get started playing them and it won't start. It just does the "wait" cursor where the opening videos (that say EA, etc) should be and never progresses. That screen is either black in full screen or directx setup error white in windowed mode.I've tried: - Making sure I'm patched to the latest patch (v1.02 I think it was)- Setting the video settings to the lowest settings- Running full screen or windowed- Running Mass Effect as Administrator- Setting the EXE properties to run as Admin- Setting the EXE properties for various compatibility modes, plus disable themes and desktop composition- Running Origin as Admin- Shutting down Origin and trying to run the game as Admin- Repairing install multiple times- Deleting the entire folder and repairing install again- Running it from my Steam account (it's on my Steam account) and no dice there either- Reinstall my video drivers- Kill anything extra - even services - that might be running- DxDiag - all drivers signed and no problemsBut nothing. It's looking like I'm never going to get my daughter to play the original Mass Effect and that makes me sad panda. This is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone has run in to this and has a fix. Also, the computer is way above spec.Intel E8600 processor8 GB RAM DDR3 PC1600GeForce 580 Ti (Might have been 560 but either way ... )UAC is disabledFirewall is disabledMass Effect 3 runs fine on the computer too. Just the original is giving me the finger. C
