Or multiple files? You said a file but I vuze disk read error mac just want to be sure. If it is indeed a single file . . . the fact that you ran out of disk space might explain the problem. I am far from on expert on such things . . . but I would suspect that if you started writing a file and you ran out of space that the HD would go a bit haywire. You repaired the disk using disk utility (which seems like the right step to me) however, due to you running out of space and repairing the disk etc it is very possible that you really only have about 18% of the file at this point. I have had similar problems before . . . and it usually comes down to a bad file or a bad disk sector or something. I have not experienced this problem in several years but what I think I remember doing was to delete the bad file and just go on leeching the torrent. If the torrent really is just one huge file . . . this will of course mean deleting the whole thing and starting over. On the other hand if the torrent is indeed made up of individual files (which I find much much more likely) you just need to figure out which file(s) are at that 18.7% point and just delete those. Report back and I can try to explain to you how to find out which files to delete (assuming it is a multi file torrent). I've http://forum.vuze.com/Thread-Read-fails-result-too-large been using Vuze for quite some time but never had any big problems until a week ago. I was downloading a couple of big packs (60 & 90 Gb) when I started getting errors: "disk write fails, flush fails the file *****.avi is in use by another process" I think it might have happened before but then Ive just restarted vuze and it's been fine (probably because of my reasonably fast http://forum.vuze.com/Thread-Disk-write-error-in-use-by-another-process connection, i e it's finnished downloading before the error has occured again) anyways after a fair bit of googling I was pretty sure it was some sort of background indexing/scanning that did it so I found this: http://achintyasharma.blogspot.se/2009/1...te_07.html It explains how to figure out what processes are locking the file(s) (also read the comments and don't use Unlocker unless you like malware) In his case it was the thumbnailviewer but for me I found it to be AVAST & windows indexing so I simply turned off the windows indexing for that partition open an explorer window right-click the partition click properties uncheck the last box that says something like "allow for files on this unit to be indexed past the fileproperties" (I have a swedish version of windows) click ok and for AVAST I excluded my vuze download folder from scans: click settings scroll down to exclusions and browse to or enter the path for your downloadfolder (in my case E:\downloads\vuze downloads) click ok Filezilla was also using that folder but since I wasn't using it I just uninstalled it, not sure if it was causing any problems but I wouldn't think so, just figured I'd mention it Anyways I hope this can be of help to someone and I hope I didn't

And you should be, because I can fix your problem. These errors are saying that another program has one of disk read the files you're downloading open, so it can't access it to continue downloading. If you're like me, it's that Google Desktop has that file open to index it. All you have to do is follow these simple steps to tell Google Desktop to not index the folder(s) you download your torrents to:Right-click on the Google Desktop icon in your disk read error task bar (the rainbow-colored circle near your system clock.)Select Preferences...In the Web page that opens, under "Don't Search These Items", click the "Add file or folder to exclude" link. From the resulting dialog, browse to the folder where you normally save the files you download with Azureus and click Ok.Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each folder you normally save files in, if applicable.Click Save Preferences at the bottom of the Web page.Send me money. (I'm guessing since you use Azureus you probably will skip this step.)This should also correct the issue where the DivX Settings Manager icon comes up in your system tray all the time while you're downloading avi's - if you have it. If it doesn't, then try this fix (using Azureus.exe as the value.) You may have to run "divxsm /unregister" then "divxsm /register" in a command prompt to reset the thing and get it to stop. It's likely that this will fix similar issues experienced on other P2P file sharing clients such as Kazaa or Shareaza.Read: Genesoc (probably down)Read: P

This discussion is locked markraven Level 1 (0 points) Q: Disk read error, and Disk Utility won't open Have a PowerMac G4 dual 800mhz, with two hard drives. Mac OS X 10.3.9 is installed on HD1. I use HD2 for miscellaneous files.Using the Azureus bittorrent client, I'm getting "Error: Disk read error - Input/output error, read fails" in the Status column when trying to download something to HD2.However, I'm able to upload files from HD2 for other users, and I'm also able to play video files that are stored on HD2 without problem. The real issue is that when I went to see if I could fix anything by opening Disk Utility, it won't open. It goes into an immediate state of Not Responding. It won't listen to me when I tell it to Force Quit... I have to wait a long time, or restart the computer, to get it to stop showing up in the dock.Any advice would be appreciated. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no error
