It's a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart got to be the worst o/s microsoft has put out. I think trying to do this will cause you grief. The system is designed for upgrading. It is probably possible to make it a dual boot system, but I would have to wonder why. If you want to get rid of XP and replace it with ME (possibly because you don't have enough memory to run XP), I would treat it as 2 separate issues. Reformat the hard drive to get rid of XP, then load ME. A better and easier solution to this would be to put more memory into the laptop so it could run XP. 256mb is bare minimum for XP to function, but it will do much better with 512mb.
