Join Date Sep 2000 Posts 17 'can't read port name from registry' a friend of mine http://www.hardwarecentral.com/showthread.php?63207-can-t-read-port-name-from-registry is having trouble with his modem under win95 -- he recieves the error 'can't read port name from registry' when he tries to dial. I have seen this problem before and i'm *sure* i found the answer on microsofts own site, but i cannot find it at all now. Any ideas? You might have to restart the Print Spooler service after deleting that key to see the change go through. As always when working with the registry be careful and to be on the safe side disk read error create a System Restore Point before doing the edit.
