to the advertised read/write speeds that I had plugged the SSD into an ASRock sata3 port vs an Intel sata3 port. I thought that I should be able to turn off my system, go ssd disk read error windows 7 into bios to make sure boot order n wutnot was ok, power it back on, and make any changes I needed to there after... Not the case. All I got was "disk read error / ctrl-alt-delete to reboot" I tried going back into bios to make sure I didn't leave anything off and everything seemed ok. Bios recognized the SSD so I don't understand. Have we not come a disk read error occurred windows 7 fix far enough along in technology that I can't plug-n-play and everything work? lol. What am I doing wrong? I plugged the SSD back into the original working sata3 port and was able to boot back up. Can I make some changes before I turn off the computer to switch ports? btw.. if it matters, my SSD is a Samsung 840pro 256Gb mobo Z77 fatalityi7-3770KWindows 7 64bitx2 HD6970's in xfireThanks for any insight anyone may be able to offer and taking the time to read up on my issues. 3 answers Last reply Nov 4, 2013 Best Answer Nov 4, 2013 More about change sata port disk read error carolinacobrasNov 4, 2013, 5:42 PM ......really? Best answer popatimNov 4, 2013, 8:12 PM You have multiple storage controllers on that board. it sounds like you tried to use the AsMedia sata3 ports for which your current win7 installation does not have the driver setup to boot with.Or maybe you had it in the Asmedia and tried to boot with the intel sata3 (which is the one you want by the way) Can't find your answer ? error has occurred - press ctrl-alt-del to restart". Sometimes I press ctrl-alt-del and next reboot system will power up.Sometimes I have to remove the power and wait 5 minutes and it will boot fine - if I try straight away http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1867064/change-sata-port-disk-read-error.html it will continue to fail.I've run the Intel SSD Toolbox and done a full scan with no errors reported. The firmware on the drive is the latest available. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this? Any theories on if it is the drive or the system or something else?Thanks... 371Views Categories: 7 - D54250WY,D34010WY Tags: none (add) d54250wykContent tagged with d54250wyk, intel 530 ssdContent tagged with intel 530 ssd, intel ssd 530Content tagged with intel ssd 530 This https://communities.intel.com/thread/61223 content has been marked as final. Did you install WIN7 directly or by putting an image on SSD? What type of filesystem are you using? NTFS? If I were you I jsut only re-install WIN7, reformat the unit and see how it goes. If you have a spare SSD unit well...it should be easier to troubleshoot. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. I want to clone the system on this drive and check. But it will take time - I can't put this system off. Other then restart there is no other issues - everything works fine. It said something about a kernel error. It did the usual gathering information procedure, and then my PC rebooted. Upon rebooting, disk read error I received the error message: 'A disk read error occurred, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart' So, I pressed CTRL+ALT+DELETE, as instructed, and I received the same error upon the second boot. I did this again, and again and I still received the same error. I was using an 840 EVO as my boot drive, however the drive isn't dead because I have connected it to another computer and it worked just fine. I have tried to boot using a Windows recovery drive, however I still get the same error. This lead me to believe that the issue is some hardware in my PC. The drives all show up in the BIOS, and are available in the boot menu. I have tried removing my RAM and running only 1 DIMM at a time. I have tested each DIMM and I get the same error when using each one.Does anyone know what the issue is, or how I could solve it?
