and it will boot fine - if I try straight away it will continue to fail.I've run the Intel SSD Toolbox and done a full scan with no errors reported. The firmware on the drive is the latest available. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this? Any theories on if it is the drive or the system or something else?Thanks... 370Views Categories: 7 - D54250WY,D34010WY Tags: none (add) d54250wykContent tagged with d54250wyk, intel 530

Did you install WIN7 directly or by putting an image on SSD? What type of filesystem are you using? NTFS? If I were you I jsut only re-install WIN7, reformat the unit and see how it goes. If you have a spare SSD unit well...it should be easier to troubleshoot. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. I want to clone the system on this drive and check. But it will take time - I can't put this system off. Other then restart there is no other issues - everything works fine. just realized today after researching why my SSD wasn't even coming close to the advertised read/write speeds that I had plugged the SSD into an ASRock sata3 disk read error windows 10 port vs an Intel sata3 port. I thought that I should be able to turn off my system, go into bios to make sure boot order n wutnot was ok, power it back on, and make any changes I needed to there after... https://communities.intel.com/thread/61223 Not the case. All I got was "disk read error / ctrl-alt-delete to reboot" I tried going back into bios to make sure I didn't leave anything off and everything seemed ok. Bios recognized the SSD so I don't understand. Have we not come far enough along in technology that I can't plug-n-play and everything work? lol. What am I doing wrong? I plugged the SSD back into the original working sata3 port and was able to boot back up. Can I make some changes before I http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1867064/change-sata-port-disk-read-error.html turn off the computer to switch ports? btw.. if it matters, my SSD is a Samsung 840pro 256Gb mobo Z77 fatality i7-3770K Windows 7 64bit x2 HD6970's in xfire Thanks for any insight anyone may be able to offer and taking the time to read up on my issues. I could have sworn that during all of my many, many trials and errors, I had tried ALL of the ports but after trying every other method including registry edits, driver delete/re-downloads, every bios setting possible, etc. It all came down to one port that I guess I didn't try but now works. I have 2 Intel Sata3's and 4 ASmedia Sata3's of which I "thought" I had tried them all. After switching one of my WD 1TB hd's I had plu

It said something about a kernel error. It did the usual gathering information procedure, and then my PC rebooted. Upon rebooting, I received the error message: 'A disk read error occurred, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart' So, I pressed CTRL+ALT+DELETE, as instructed, and I received the same error upon the second boot. I did this again, and again and I still received the same error. I was using an 840 EVO as my boot drive, however the drive isn't dead because I have connected it to another computer and it worked just fine. I have tried to boot using a Windows recovery drive, however I still get the same error. This lead me to believe that the issue is some hardware in my PC. The drives all show up in the BIOS, and are available in the boot menu. I have tried removing my RAM and running only 1 DIMM at a time. I have tested each DIMM and I get the same error when using each one.Does anyone know
