I have restarted my apache web server. I have even put these lines at the top of my script and it doesn't even catch simple parse errors. For example, I declare variables with a "$" and I don't close statements";". But all my scripts show a blank page on these errors, but i want to actually see the errors in my browser output. error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1); What is left to do? php display error message in php error-reporting share|improve this question edited Mar 9 at 7:16 Maninderpreet Singh 1,7111524 asked Jun 27 '09 at 19:09 Abs 13.2k68208356 3 I've yet to nail down exactly why this works sometimes and not others, but for anyone wanting to quickly toggle errors in a php script (or enable them via a $_REQUEST parameter) these two lines will work most of the time. –brandonscript Oct 28 '13 at 20:15 well you can see details of the error by enabling xdebug from php ini file. –jewelhuq Jan 13 at 10:14 add a comment| 13 Answers 13 active oldest votes up vote 1335 down vote accepted This always works for me: ini_set('display_errors', 1); ini_set('display_startup_errors', 1); error_reporting(E_ALL); However, this doesn't make PHP to show parse errors - the only way to show those errors is to modify your php.ini with this line: display_errors = on share|improve this answer edited Oct 23 '15 at 12:24 tleb 1,164721 answered Jan 29 '14 at 11:25 Fancy John 13.7k2915 4 why is this not the best answer? –özg Jul 4 '14 at 11:52 13 @özg Because this configuration doesn't show parser errors (errors due to syntactically incorrect scripts --e.g: ill-formed scripts). The Zend parser (the one used by php) is executed before the script is executed. So, if the script has syntactic errors, these ini_set directives are never executed and every existing

I haven't tested it, but seems like it might be the right way to go: http://webpack.github.io/docs/node.js-api.html#stats-tojson fgaleano commented Jan 19, 2016 @uglymunky were you able to figure this one out? I'm in desperate need to see a verbose version of errors and I can't figure out where to put this flag on. Thanks. uglymunky commented Jan 19, 2016 @galeano, sorry, I don't remember display error message and I've since moved onto other stuff :/ fgaleano commented Jan 22, 2016 @uglymunky No worries, thank you for replying. aromanyukvakoms commented Jan 27, 2016 thanks scottydawg commented Mar 2, 2016 @chiplay and @fgaleano: yes, adding errorDetails: true to stats does provide verbose output. This might be worth noting in the main README as it's likely to help first-timers get the kinks worked out of their build. Especially since webpack error messages are pretty unfriendly, as noted by users here and here. I was about 5 minutes away from going back to browserify before finding this thread. scottydawg commented Mar 2, 2016 Sample: grunt.initConfig({ ... webpack: { app: { entry: 'target/.tmp/app.js', output: { path: 'target/dist/app', filename: 'app.bundle.js' }, stats: { colors: true, modules: true, reasons: true, errorDetails: true }, ... } } ... 👍 8 bergr01 commented May 11, 2016 Adding the above stats snippets doesn't seem to produce anything meaningful for me, e.g. [370] ./src/home/controller/home.controller.js 1.18 kB {1} [built] [371] ./src/modules/login/login.controller.js 1.56 kB {1} [built] + 351 hidden modules ERROR in undefined is not a function Child extract-text-webpack-plugin: + 2 hidden modules Child extract-text-webpack-plugin: + 3 hidden modules 👍 2 danez added the doc
