ECS#2002 (精英#2002) Thread Tools #1 31-03-2002, 04:21 PM Lord of Pain Posts: n/a I just flashed my K7S5A with the new OC-Bios dma controller (as of 03/18/02) and now I lso got the "DMA Error System halted"-message after Post-Screen (I suppose it doesn't finish Post). Please don't tell me to use a Amiboot.rom floppy. I have already tried this and it doesn't work (it also doesn't work with IDE-cables disconnected). Anyone got a good idea how to recover the bios? "Hot-flashing" does also not apply to me, as I don't know dma controller error anybody to lend me a second mobo/flash-rom. Note I've never used any of these firms services before: http://store.firmware.com/ http://www.leandercomputing.com/bios.html The first will arrange to send you a new BIOS chip with "current BIOS" installed for US $29.95 plus shipping/handling. The second says they will arrange to reprogram your existing chip (if they support it, I haven't yet checked if the K7S5A is supported by this firm) for US $16.00 plus S/H. Supposedly a user named "zzzzzz" on the Anandtech forums will reprogram for you for US $5-6 plus shipping, but I haven't found any contact info yet. At the prices for commercial recovery and with outpost.com selling K7S5A's for under US $60 shipped to US addresses I'm tempted to simply buy another and hot-flash. As always, YMMV, etc. but at least you do have some choices. Edit, forgot to include, read from the FAQ ( http://forum.ocworkbench.com/ocwbcgi...c&f=4&t=002019 ), item 14 for more url's of firms to
