You need to upgrade the password for your MySQL user account. The easiest way is to create a new user account. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: mysql connect error David_Powers Feb 18, 2010 2:03 AM (in response to jen0dorf) You can use whatever you like for the password. It's the way the password is encrypted by MySQL that changed in MySQL 4.1.It sounds as though you are using a remote database that hasn't been upgraded properly. MySQL 4.1 came out so

cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication Dreamweaver Mysql Php class="hljs-keyword">in ...I run my Linux servers on VMWare when I do development, so the MySQL dreamweaver mysql bağlantısı database itself was from quite a while ago. As you will see, the core issue here is that MySQL can have passwords with hashes stored in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/578847 the old 16-character format, which is not supported by PHP 5.3's new mysqlnd library. Since I couldn't find a good solution with a quick Google, here is how I solved this without having to downgrade PHP or MySQL (as some of the solutions suggested): 1. Change MySQL to NOT to use old_passwords http://blog.mixu.net/2010/06/06/quick-tip-how-to-fix-mysqlnd-cannot-connect-to-mysql-4-1-using-old-authentication-onphp5-3/ It seems that even MySQL 5.x versions still default to the old password hashes. You need to change this in "my.cnf" (e.g. /etc/my.cnf): remove or comment out the line that says old_passwords = 1Restart MySQL. If you don't, MySQL will keep using the old password format, which will mean that you cannot upgrade the passwords using the builtin PASSWORD() hashing function. You can test this by running: SELECT Length(PASSWORD('xyz')); +-------------------------+ | Length(PASSWORD('xyz')) | +-------------------------+ | 16 | +-------------------------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) The old password hashes are 16 characters, the new ones are 41 characters. 2. Change the format of all the passwords in the database to the new format Connect to the database, and run the following query: SELECT user, Length(`Password`) FROM `mysql`.`user`; This will show you which passwords are in the old format, ex: +----------+--------------------+ | user | Length(`Password`) | +----------+--------------------+ | root | 41 | | root

I can connect to it from another server (CentOS 6) using: mysql -h **** -u **** --port **** -p It prompts me for my password and connects just fine. The client version is "Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.6.12, for Linux (x86_64) using EditLine wrapper." However, dreamweaver mysql error from another server (running CentOS 7), using the same command, I get the following error after entering my password: ERROR 2000 (HY000): Unknown MySQL error This error is useless. There is nothing in the client machine logs that indicate the cause of the failure. However, I do know that the MySQL server is at least receiving the connect request because it logs a warning about the Reverse DNS lookup not matching. It's just a warning—not the cause of this problem—but it proves that firewalls and/or network configurations aren't blocking the connection. There is nothing else in the MySQL server log (or error log) that indicates the cause of the failure. This client version is "Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.6.23, for Linux (x86_64) using EditLine wrapper." I don't even know where to begin. mysql errors share|improve this question asked Feb 11 '15 at 16:19 Nick Williams 1212 This is a client error. Is it possible you use some other version (not 5.6.23) to check whether the error persists or not? –ypercubeᵀᴹ Feb 11 '15 at 16:30 I wouldn't know how to use another version of the client from that machine. I can tell you that the same client can connect to the local server without e
