tool then prompts you to send the error information to Microsoft. The Dumprep.exe tool is a non-essential system process that is installed for third-party use. If you’ve ever had to use the task manager https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/899870 (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) to kill a “Not Responding” program, you’ve probably been frustrated by the time it takes for the program to actually disappear from your screen. What’s going on here is that a Microsoft provided tool called “Windows Error Dump Reporting,” or “dumprep.exe,” is creating a file containing information about the error that can later be sent back to Microsoft, where it will be summarily ignored along with http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-disable-dumprepexe-dump-reporting-tool-windows-xp millions of other error reports. Method1 : Using the System Properties Right click on “My Computer,” choose “Properties” from that menu. Click on “Advanced tab,” Click the “Error Reporting” button. Check the “Disable error reporting” box. You may choose to uncheck the the box below it, “But notify me when an error occurs,” if desired. Method 2: Use the System Configuration Utility to disable the Dumprep.exe tool Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK. Click the Startup tab. Click to clear the dumprep 0 -k or dumprep 0 -u check box, and then click OK. Restart the computer. Method 3: Use Registry Editor to remove the Dumprep.exe entry Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK. Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run In the right pane, click Dumprep, and then press DELETE. It loads up information about why and how the program tilted. It allso stores bulks of information on your computer you can't see, but the stuff it sends you usually have a chance to see. So it's Windows official spyware, and I don't know a way to stop it. veikea, Feb 2, 2004 #5 fallout55 Joined: Feb 5, 2004 Messages: 1 I saw this thread while searching for a solution to my "dumprep" problem.
