Ruza Guest Hi, Thanks for reading this. I have a problem with my dial up connection. Neither of them work after installing SP4. I can http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/error-619-cannot-connect-dial-up-connection.1575055/ connect and after 1 minute (more or less) checking the user name http://modemsite.com/56k/dunserror.asp and password I receive the following error message: 619: The especified port is not connected I've done a lot of things even change the modem, applying the hotfix of article Q824301 , Uninstall and install again TCP/IP protocol, read other microsoft article related, check from top to bottom the PPP and RAS dun error log, etc but nothing solve the problem. I've found also a lot threads on the microsoft.public. newsgroups regarding this problem but none of them with the solution. I'm totally desperated and I don't want to reinstall Win2000 again. I would like to know what is causing this and how to fix it. Does anyone know how to reinstall RAS in Win2000 Pro ?? Maybe reinstalling dun error 619 it again it would work. Anyway, do you have any clue or advice. I'll be very grateful. Thanks in advance for any reply. Fernando. Fernando Ruza, Oct 20, 2003 #1 Advertisements Scott F. Guest I found this on the web: Error 619: The port is disconnected. This often happens when another program is using the modem. Disable all fax software. If this does not work then shutdown and turn off the computer. This forces the port to close properly. If it still gives this error try reinstalling the modem. (Be careful with WinModems as they have often a lot of extra disks) If not, contact the manufacturer and get them to sort it out. of Microsoft Dial-Up Networking (DUNS) Error codes with the Microsoft error message follows. If there's a hyperlink, you can follow it for more information on what to do about the error. If you are getting an error that does not have more information here, please let me know! The list includes error codes for Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista. In later versions of operating systems (NT, 2000, XP and Vista) some of the errors can occur for connections other than traditional dial-up modem connections: they may occur with DSL and VPN (virtual private networking) connections that do not involve dial-up. NOTE: Some solutions indicate to re-install DUNs and/or TCP/IP. See this Microsoft KB article for Win 95/98 instructions to Remove & Re-install DUNS & TCP/IP.Newer versions of Windows don't allow DUNS uninstall: see Reset DUNS (TCP/IP) in Windows 2000 & XP. Windows Vista: Dialing directly from the 'Connect To' menu or other shortcuts will not display DUNs error codes - instead, particularly large and unhelpful dialog boxes are shown as detailed here. In order to see any DUNs error codes, you must dial from the 'Manage Network Connections' Window. ALSO SEE: Connectoids. In many cases, DUNs Errors can be solved by correcting the properties for your dial-up networking connections.
