E74 Error Fix Towel Trick
DIY 'Magpi Radio" Twitter Bird Reads Your Tweets Out... I've come across a few very stubborn Xbox consoles in my day. A previous Null e74 error fix 1 red light Byte demonstrated how to fix the Xbox with just eight pennies and some electrical tape. But if you've got one of those hell-born boxes that just refuses to be fixed in any way, shape, or form, there is always one https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/35780/How+do+I+fix+e74+error last ditch approach. I'm talking about the infamous "towel trick". It works over 90% of the time, from my personal experience. Though, please note: This is only a temporary fix. The towel trick is actually just the general term used for the procedure of cooking your Xbox 360's innards to the point of solder melting. This helps reform solder runs temporarily and allows you to use your console. It usually lasts until the next time you reboot it. Warnings This is http://mobile.businessinsider.com/a-last-resort-method-to-fix-the-xbox-360-e74-error-the-red-ring-of-death-2011-12 only for people who have tried everything and do not care to potentially worsen the damage to their console. Again, I suggest you try this Null Byte before attempting this trick. This could start a fire. Keep an eye on your console. Requirements Towels to seal the heat vents on the Xbox A broken Xbox with RRoD or E74 errors 20 minutes of your time Step 1 Turn the Xbox On and Wrap It Makes sure all of the cables are plugged into the Xbox correctly and turn the console on. You should be greeted with this lovely light, or a red ring of death on the console (3 red lights). Leave the console on and wrap it in clothing or towels to seal the heat in. Leave the console running for 20-25 minutes. Keep a close eye on it. Step 2 Start Her Up After you've run your Xbox for a while with the heat trapped inside, take the towels off and put a load of pressure on the top while it is horizontal. If you push hard enough while it is extremely hot, your Xbox will boot and stay on until it is shutdown. After, it goes back into an E74 error. This is handy to hold you over until you can go out and buy a new one. Check it out! (Note: Ignore that the bottom of this console is removed. I needed to reflash its disc d

My Xbox 360 has 1 red light and displays an E74 error on screen. I have read that it can possibly be repaired e74 error by doing some XClamp fix, which sounds a bit more difficult. So before I read up on that info, I would like to know if anyone here has tried the towel trick for the same issue as me, and has it actually worked? More importantly is it still working today? My console warranty is voided, I replaced the case with a black one over a year ago now, thus removing e74 error fix the warranty seal. Failing this, I am tempted to send it off to Microsoft and hope they just fix or send me a working replacement. Try removing the A/V cable, HDD and power cable and plugging them back in and see if it helps. I'm no expert when it comes to the towel trick but I do know it is only a temporary fix. A 360 only works for a few weeks or months after the trick so no it is not a permanent solution at all. Anyway I have read online that some have been able to fix the e74 error through the towel trick but there are detailed repair guides online so I think it'll be best to follow something like that or get someone who is handy with electronics to do it for you.
