How To Fix Error Code 0x80070002
I got the error code 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND in the windows update dialog. Prior starting the SP1 installer, I've run both sfc /scannow (with no errors) and the update readiness tool. Could someone please point me to the right direction with this? I've uploaded the logs to my skydrive here. Thank you very much in advance. Andras. Please run SFC and the update readiness tool again until the logs give the all clear. From CBS log, I notice the following error message. Windows 7 Update Error 0x80070003
7 SP1 install failure, error 80070002 800f0826 Hi guys, I have had this problem ever since SP1 was available and never was able to install it. The idea of doing a clean install doesn't interest me so I have avoided SP1 till now. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/fd4f061d-f42a-422f-b299-4b030b5964e5/cannot-install-windows-7-service-pack-1-error-0x80070002-errorfilenotfound?forum=w7itproinstall But now the new AMD catalyst drivers require SP1 and was wondering if this problem was ever solved. I remember when Windows 7 Service Pack 1 was released, there was a problem with registry cleaning and stuff like driver cleaners because of which couldn't install SP1. I tried a lot of solution like replacing missing files etc but didn't work then. So I tried now but am still not able to install it. During the update process on startup it stops around 10% and fails. I have run http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/265101-windows-7-sp1-install-failure-error-80070002-a.html SFC /SCANNOW(no integrity violations) and the cbs log is attached. I ran the Update readiness tool and the checksur log is clean. I ran the MGADiag as well and have attached its output. Heres the old thread way back in April 2011. I tried the standalone SP1 install package but it failed the same way and gave error 800f0826. "Windows Update error 800f0826 is displayed when an update for Windows has failed to install and is preventing you from installing additional updates. Error 800f0826 does not identify the update that has caused the problem. The update that has caused the problem will display a different error." I am guessing it will probably lead to the earlier error 80070002. I looked in to the CBS.log and have trimmed it to just show the complete log from start of installation till failure. Have zipped it since its quite huge text file. I just don't know what to look for. Every time I try I get this error code [80070002]. I've uninstalled every previous update and tried again, installing SP1 first, which it did fine. But now there's another update called Service Pack 1 and that will not install. I've tried Microsoft's fixit and the system repair tool, neither of which work. 14 answers Last reply Oct 2, 2015 Best Answer Jun 15, 2015 More about winds service pack installation fail 80070002 Best answer ss202slJun 15, 2015, 7:50 AM try deleting the temp error 0x80070002 fileshttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-error-80070002#1TC=windows-7 SammiyinJun 15, 2015, 2:01 PM ss202sl said: try deleting the temp fileshttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-error-80070002#1TC=windows-7 No luck, going to try a system update readiness tool again.
