My husbands computer had a virus and I tried to fix it but have failed miserably. We tried going to a prior system restore point and that seemed to helped. I then ran a full system scan in avast and it quarantined some stuff and had me reboot. Then when I rebooted I get a pop up from avast saying that there is a 10050 error that it cannot protect mail/news. It tells me to check that the avast service is not blocked by the personal firewall. When I try and check the firewall it says it is not running and if I try and run it it says in a popup Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service. In Avast it says the realtime shields are off. When I click to turn them on nothing happens. I cannot get an internet connection at all either. (My dad usually helps with computer probl

Check "Include All Files" option. Press "Scan". It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste the log to your reply. She was able to only "close" the Google program but did not "exit" the program. She stopped the game and we did SuperAntiSpyware which found a Trojan Horse. I assumed it was removed or quarrantined but problems persisted. SASpyware did find other threats but I didn't notate what they were not knowing there were bigger problems. At this point I don't know if error 10050 avast Avast had stopped working because it usually blocks Trojans on the rare instances I have seen. I didn't know there were bigger problems till SASpyware had me reboot. Then the Avast message came up saying "Avast will not be bale to protect mail/news (error 10050). Check that Avast is not blocked by firewall." This is when I saw the red shield at the bottom of the screen saying the firewall was not on. (Which actually has been the norm at start-up for a long time but it goes on once the pc boots up - until today.) I tried to correct the firewall problem but got a message that said "Windows Firewall cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the ICS?" - clicking Yes got me to: "Windows cannot start the ICS." I did read up on the internet ( my pc ) about this 10050 error ***but don't know where to begin when I can't connect the E510 to the internet.*** Trying to "fix" in Avast made nothing happen or "start program" made nothing happen as well. I have had Avast on silent gaming mode and that is off now too. I removed Google Talk from add/remove programs. Let me know - if you can - if this "Alice Madness Returns" game is a culprit...I'm going to have to break it to the kid somehow. (I hate pc games!!)
