> Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) Question 0 Sign in to event id 1103 .net runtime optimization vote I have been having issues with a new terminal server. The server is a VM (VMWare 5.1) citrix an error occurred while retrieving client printer properties running server 2008 R2 (8GB memory 8 CPUs). My client called in a week or so ago complaining that local printers were not redirecting to the terminal server. When https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc727392(v=ws.10).aspx I looked into the issue I found the following event log that correlates with this issue: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-Printers Date: 5/9/2013 1:09:58 PM Event ID: 1103 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: XXXTERM04.XXX.local Description: An internal communication error occurred. Redirected printing will no longer function for a single user session. Check the status https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/db1f099d-abe8-4523-97c0-5d35e2a57e52/server-2008-r2-terminal-server-printer-redirection-issues?forum=winserverTS of the Remote Desktop Device Redirector in the System folder of Device Manager. I found the following technet article on this event log:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee890928(v=ws.10).aspx I then confirmed that the Remote Desktop Device Redirector Bus was enabled and working properly. The next step was to replace the Rdpdr.sys file with another copy. This was replaced with the Rdpdr.sys file on the other terminal server (same specs) that is working properly. We tried to do the registry portion of this fix as well, however the key did not exist on either TS. I did not reinstall Remote Desktop Session Host role as there are multiple applications that would need to bere-installedand reconfigured if this is done. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\RDPDR After rebooting the server the problem went away for most of the next day, however it came back that afternoon. That evening I noticed they were using HP Universal Print drivers on 10 different printers. I set out to remove the UPD and install specific drivers for each of these printers. I completely removed the UPD, however none of these

Will shutdown This error seems to relate to a failed or corrupted installation of KB974417 - which applies when .Net 4.0 framework is installed. There are two ways to fix this. One or both may work for you. The first is to manually install the update via the Geek Lab article. The second is to remove the conflicting update and then reinstall: Uninstall update KB976569 manually through Add/Remove programs. Download KB974417 for your platform and install it. Re-install KB976569 If you don't have KB976569 installed to start with then it is possible to resolve this issue by installing KB976569 then following the steps above. He will connect for a few seconds without issue, then Remote Desktop crashes and offers to send a report to Microsoft. I looked through the event log on the server and found a 4105 and several 1103 errors each time he tried to connect. The 4105 states: The Remote Desktop license server cannot update the license attributes for user "USER" in the Active Directory Domain "DOMAIN". Ensure that the computer account for the license server is a member of Terminal Server License Servers group in Active Directory domain "DOMAIN". The 1103 error states: An internal communication error occurred. Redirected printing will no longer function for a single user session. Check the status of the Remote Desktop Device Redirector in the System folder of Device Manager. I'm not sure what to do about all of this. An interesting side note is that I can have him remote log in to the server from another computer without any issues. Any suggestions? Thanks! I'm going to suggest something seemingly "whacky". This is based on a previous experience with a TS user and a similar situation. Check the users client side PC for any installed printers...... remove any (all) ... at least temporarily. In my case the user had an old corrupt printer driver that would crash her session when connecting to the terminal server.... worse yet it also crashed the print spooler service on the server, making printing unavailable for anyone el
