When i try to access a physical resource on my network (server or computer) with your software, I get sometimes the "[1208] An extended error has occured" message. What can I do ? The message "[1208] An extended error has occured" is a common native message of Microsoft Windows http://www.pointdev.com/en/faq/faq-ideal-administration-windows-error-1208-an-extended-error-has-occured-id-655.html Operating System and is not directly related to Pointdev softwareTo resolve this error, please verify the following points : Check that you can ping with the CMD prompt the remote host (by its IP address or by its physical NetBIOS name), and that the host answers without significant packet loss. If the remote host does not answer when it is pingued by its hostname but answer when pingued with its IP address, please check on the remote host the DNS properties. This point should be considered because a good many functionalities of our products use the name resolution when trying to to access remot hosts. This issue may be also due to a synchronization problem between the time of the remote computer and the time of your administration computer, or the time between the PC and the DC (Domain Controller). After verifying that basic network connectivity exists, you can force time synchronization on a computer by running this command: net time /domain /set.

I have 3 'computers' total on MyHome. My desktop, my wifes notebook and BigBoy. Here's http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/245993-45-extended-error-occured where you can see it. I can actually see all 3 devices but I keep getting \\Bigboy is inaccessible you might not have permission to use this network resource, contact your administrator blah blah blah error 1208. Now, this was working great 2 error 1208 hours ago when I was running windowsXP. My wife's notebook (pinky) can access and browse Bigboy without a problem. From MY computer, I can ping Bigboy by name and IP address. Can someone explain to me why windows decided I can't access my own computers? indecks, May 11, 2009 #1 robotb9 Joined: Jun 2, 2009 Messages: 1 This worked for me in Windows 7 and I've seen the same issue connecting XP to Win2000 shares. If you can browse your network and see your error 1208 windows NAS drive, which if you are getting 1208 should be the case, one work around you can use is to map the drive to a drive letter. Click on the file explorer. Click on computer. Click on "Map network drive". Select the drive letter you want to assign to the drive. Key in the exact address, e.g., \\myNAS\folders I hope it works for you! robotb9, Jun 2, 2009 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. Maybe this can help you: "An extended error has occurred" or "Access Denied" Symptoms: When mapping a network drive using net use or using the net view command to view a different computer in the domain, you may receive: "An extended error has occurred" or "Access Denied" error messages. Resolutions: 1) This issue may occur if the workstation doesn't synchronize the time with the server. After verifying that basic network connectivity exists, you can force time synchronization on the client computer manually. To do this, run net time /domain /set command. 2) Make sure you have granted enough licenses for clients accessing. Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Get the answer hh
