For demonstration purposes here, I am installing bootstrap. Regardless osstatus error 128 of the package, I receive the following errors: C:\Scott>bower install bootstrap bower not-cached git://github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git#* bower resolve git://github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git#* bower ECMDERR Failed to execute "git ls-remote --tags --heads git://github .com/twbs/bootstrap.git", exit code of #128 Additional error details: fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git/': Failed connect to github.com:443; No error I have tried using the following solution to remove the first error - which I found from this search: git config --global url."https://".insteadOf git:// However, this does not work nor do any of the other solutions found on that page. Searching for a solution for the 2nd error, it seems that setting a username/pwd for a proxy server will resolve the issue if you are on a corporate network/behind a firewall. However, I am not using a proxy server as I am on my home pc/network (windows 7 x64). Thanks! When i want to install it, i'm getting http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21544803/git-bower-errors-exit-code-128-failed-connect an error "Git status: 128" The package is 'underscore.string': git://github.com/epeli/underscore.string.git The solution in issue #32 doesn't work for me. Could you help with this? Thanks in advance! timmywil commented Sep 14, 2012 Same issue trying to register Sizzle. I must be doing something wrong. bower cloning git://github.com/jquery/sizzle.git bower cached git://github.com/jquery/sizzle.git bower fetching sizzle bower error Git status: 128 timmywil commented Sep https://github.com/bower/bower/issues/50 14, 2012 Ah, my guess is that the url should be different for those who are owners of the repo. Seems to work for everybody besides Sizzle members. I wonder if this is a bigger issue that bower needs to address somehow. Perhaps the https protocol rather than the git one would work for everyone. Bower member paulirish commented Sep 14, 2012 Hmm.. Owner shouldn't matter at all, actually.. timmywil commented Sep 14, 2012 Yea, I get the same error with all urls and combinations. From what I can find, 128 seems to be a permissions error. Regular git clone works fine tho. timmywil commented Sep 14, 2012 Well, I removed my bower cache and it works for me now. I don't know if that will help anyone. Perhaps bower didn't cache something correctly when I was registering sizzle. #mac only rm -rf ~/.bower D3CK3R commented Sep 15, 2012 Very nice, this also works for me. Will this be fixed in a future release? D3CK3R commented Sep 15, 2012 Hm, i've also registered angular-ui and installed the package. Everything works as expected, but
with code 128: error: bad signature fatal: index file corrupt210Ralph CossioOct 07, 2015The moment I start up my sourceTree, https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/30956050/git-status-failed-with-code-128-error-bad-signature-fatal-index-file-corrupt I get this error. How to resolve it without damaging my current project files?sourcetreeCommentCommentAdd your comment...4 answers543Renato RudnickiOct 07, 2015Hi Ralph, If the problem is with the index as the staging area for commits (i.e. .git/index), you can simply remove the index (make a backup copy if you want), and then restore index to version error 128 in the last commit. On SourceTree shell run:On OSX/Linux:rm -f .git/index git reset On Windows:del .git\index git reset (The reset command above is the same as git reset --mixed HEAD) Cheers, Renato Rudnicki CommentCommentAdd your comment...10-1AntonAug 20, 2016I get this all the time.I almost hate it already!Steps to reproduce are simple.Just create a new branch, commit something, then failed with error switch to develop, merge your branch to develop and delete it. And observe the bug.The only way to fix is to delete the wholerepo fromsourcetreeand add it again. Can the issue be fixed? Please?CommentCommentAdd your comment...10-1Mikhail GrunkoJun 16, 2016I deleted my project (root folder) and created it again.
