image. The file name should not contain any extra spaces, and it is highly recommended that there should be no special characters in the file name. In this example, the fix is to remove "(1)" from the file name. Try renaming the Blancco_5_server (1).iso to Blancco_5_server.iso and then format and create the bootable USB again using the Blancco USB Creator error 13 invalid or unsupported executable format windows 7 ultimate tool. Problem 2:"Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format" Booting Blancco_5_server.iso (hd0,0) chainloader (hd32) Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format Press any key to continue.... Solution:The problem is caused by a bad or incompatible USB stick. The USB is mounted and detected as (fd0) device by the host system. Make sure that the format option is enabled in USB creator. Problem 3: "Kernel panic" or no specific error message is displayed, but the USB boot just does not work Solutions:Sometimes changing the used USB memory stick brand or model (different size) seems to make a difference. For example we have noticed that certain 8 GB Kingston USB sticks do not work properly with Blancco USB Creator, but then 2 and 4 GB models from Kingston do not have any issues at all. If the same USB stick fails to boot in different computer models, it is recommended to try another USB stick model. Also make sure that the formatting option is enabled when creating the bootable USB stick. Google for "bootable cd-rom specification" for technical details. After you modified it (perhaps with a not-so-good tool), it becomes unbootable. The USB's partition is bootable, and I have installed GRUB to the MBR of the jump drive. It works pretty well - I can boot Freedos and run some utilities, and I can boot PING. I would like to add the Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD to this rescue chainloader /bootmgr error usb drive. I have a working jumpdrive, so I can pretty easily copy over the files. I could hunt down the needed menu.lst entries needed for GRUB, but the Ubuntu LiveUSB uses a fairly complicated syslinux configuration. Besides, I would like to keep as much of the current LiveCD/LiveUSB look-n-feel without porting the syslinux config over to GRUB. At the suggestion of ~quack I tried a menu.lst entry of: title Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD root=(hd0,0) kernel /ubuntu-9.10/syslinux/isolinux.bin but GRUB responded with an Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format. At the GRUB commandline I then tried: grub> root=(hd0,0) grub> kernel /syslinux/isolinux.bin because I have a second isolinux.bin file in that location, but GRUB responded with the same error. I also tried: grub> chainloader /syslinux/isolinux.bin and once again received the Error 13. Finally, I tried at the GRUB command line: grub> root=(hd0,0) grub> kernel /ubuntu-9.10/install/mt86plus grub> boot and that worked What I would really like is a way to have GRUB call syslinux/isolinux bootloader. Then syslinux could load its own menu and whatnot. Anyone know how to do this? linux boot grub syslinux share|improve this question edited Jan 3 '10 at 21:27 asked Jan 3 '10 at 8:33 pcapademic 1,42511219 updated the answer. how do you feel about recompiling G

I've installed arch-enlightenment desktop on a separate partition and grub can't start the distro. I get “Error 13, invalid or unsupported executable format” message. This is all the more surprising because chainloader +1 never failed me before. I have also Ubuntu installed and arch execute perfectly chainloader +1 with ubuntu – no problem, only arch can't start arch. Interesting. Here is the menulist to make clearer what I mean.# (0) Arch Linux title Arch Linux root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda1 ro initrd /boot/initramfs-linux.img # (1) Arch Linux title Arch Linux Fallback root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda1 ro initrd /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img title Ubuntu root (hd0,1) chainloader +1 title Arch Enlightenment root (hd0,2) chainloader +1Lots of people having this problem but my search found no usable solution to this problem. Now I have arch-enlightenment installed by I can't start it. The only times I can recall seeing this is if there was something wrong with the kernel or I had done something by mistake. What you might want to do to eliminate most possibilities is to chroot from an Arch live CD and run mkinitcpio:mkinitcpio -p linuxBe sure your /etc/mkinitcpio.conf has the appropriate hooks for your system, otherwise you might have a working kernel but it won't boot (especially if you're using LVM and forget the LVM hook). This may not be of much help, but it'll be a start to figure out what went wrong.
