be different, but might often be D:\cab1.cab, where D: refers to your DVD drive. How to workaround this issue Some time ago I blogged that you should try copying the installation locally as in some cases this is related to brief network disconnects or disc read lag, or even a bad burn of an ISO image. You should still try that and other methods in some of the comments on that post first since those are for more likely problems. If you do not have Internet access, or have a restrictive firewall or proxy, setup may be failing to verify the signature because it cannot access the online certificate revocation list (CRL). This is most likely if you encounter the error on cab1.cab for VS2008 or MSDN. You’ll need a copy of setreg.exe which is available in the .NET Framework SDK, which is now part of the Windows SDK. By default, a revocation list is checked so Internet access is required. At any user privilege level, you can run the following command to disable CRL checks using option 3: setreg.exe 3 FALSE If you

> Visual Studio Setup and Installation Question 0 Sign in to vote I tried to install Visual C++ 2010 express and chose not to install "SQL Server Compact" (Since I'm not sure if I need it). It gave https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/heaths/2008/12/11/another-possible-workaround-for-error-1330/ me two identical errors that said: "Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\User\....\IXP03341.tmp\vs_setup.cab has an invalid digital signature." At the final screen, it stated that: "Setup could not installed the following component: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express - ENU" It also said that the SQL server and Help Viewer were not attempted to be installed. My operating system is Windows Vista. But 1330 would say to me that the file is corrupt, probably a download error, they do happen occasionally. Try starting setup again or get the ISO and try to install it from there. Any samples given are not meant to have error checking or show best practices. They are meant to just illustrate a point. I may also give inefficient code or introduce some problems to discourage copy/paste coding. This is because the major point of my posts is to aid in the learning process. You can try installing the product again, but you may have better luck if you copy the DVD layout to your hard drive. Installing from stamped media - which is what ships in our box product - also reduces the chance of seeing error 1330. If installing Visual Studio 2008 onto multiple licensed machines, copying the volume licensed DVD to the network can help but any netwo
