are voted up and rise to the top Domain Controller DCdiag error - A Global Catalog Server could not be located up vote 3 down vote favorite 1 I've set up a replica DC in a remote location. It's connected to the main site through a VPN connection. DCdiag passes on the primary DC, but I get the following error on the replica DC: Running enterprise tests a primary domain controller could not be located on : mydomain.co.uk Starting test: LocatorCheck Warning: DcGetDcName(GC_SERVER_REQUIRED) call failed, error 1355 A Global Catalog Server could not be located - All GC's are down. Warning: DcGetDcName(PDC_REQUIRED) call failed, error 1355 A Primary Domain Controller could not be located. The server holding the PDC role is down. ......................... mydomain.co.uk failed test LocatorCheck Is it giving this error just because it is not the global catalogue server, or is there some connectivity issue where it does not think there is one at all, as the error seems to imply? If so, it seems odd, as all other tests were passed. What do I do about this? windows-server-2008-r2 domain-controller active-directory share|improve this question asked Mar 16 '12 at 2:35 paradroid 62931022 How's DNS set up on the replica? –Shane Madden♦ Mar 16 '12 at 2:58 @ShaneMadden: It was set up through netdom join. I assumed that was all that was needed. The DNS entries appear to have been replicated, apart from the DCs themselves (the original DC appears on both DNS databases, but the replica only appears through dig on the original, but with two entries, one being an out-of-date address). –paradroid Mar 16 '12 at 3:2

Starting test: FsmoCheckWarning: DcGetDcName(PDC_REQUIRED) call failed, error 1355A Primary Domain Controller could not be located. The server holding the PDC role is down.......................... npfmeridian.local failed test FsmoCheckИ ладно бы упал PDC- эмулятор на контролере домена есть второй, но фишка в том, что передача ролей происходит просто замечательно без каких либо проблем, репликация то же проходит на ура.
3, 2005. zealousworks Guest I have an native Windows 2000 Active Directory domain with a number of remote sites, and I am trying to diagnose some Netlogon error messages appearing in the event log of the remote domain controllers: Event Type: Error Event Source: NETLOGON Event Category: None Event ID: 5719 Date: 03/10/2005 Time: 11:08:33 User: N/A Computer: SITE02AD01 Description: No Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller is available for domain WALKERS. Any suggestions appreciated! Regards, Andrew zealousworks, Oct 3, 2005 #1 Advertisements Paul Bergson Guest Has the sysvol share come online and/or is the netlogon service running? Check your event viewer. The second test is just telling you it knows the name of the roles holder, not that it can be contacted. Also try running the full dcdiag test Try running netdiag, repadmin and dcdiag. Look for fail, error and warning errors. Copy the following to a cmd file and run look for error, fail and warn within the reports. Post any errors you can't figure out. make sure you modify DC_Name to the name of a dc in your domain. @echo off c: cd \ cd "program files\support tools" del c:\dcdiag.log dcdiag /e /c /v /sC_Name /f:c:\dcdiag.log start c:\dcdiag.log netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag
