Run setup again to assure proper installation. Then, I decided to uninstall MS https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/microsoft-windows/threads/215672/error-1404-setup-cannot-delete-the-registry-key Office 2010 Pro Plus, but this message appears: Error 1404. Setup cannot delete the registry key. \SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@microsoft.com/OfficeAuthz,version=14.0. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For more information about how to contact PSS, see C:\Users\Niki\AppData\Local\Temp\Setup000008a0\PSS10R.CHM. I was really dumbfounded. I didn't know what to do. I tried running Office2010ProPlus.ISO, but https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/144ccfa9-9bb1-47e4-932b-fde90d27a93c/problem-setup-cannot-deletewrite-registry-entry-win-7-64bit-home-premium?forum=w7itprogeneral my Daemon Tools Pro license has expired already. I downloaded Daemon Tools Lite, but it failed. I was not able to prntscr the message, but it tells almost the same thing - I do not have permission to write any registry entry. I downloaded VirtualCloneDrive, but installation also failed. I downloaded another software, MagicISO. Installation was smooth - no pop-ups about permissions. Well, I didn't know how to run/use MagicISO, so I downloaded MagicDisc. After installation, this message appears: MagicDisc cannot open friver (mcdbus), Please make sure that MagicDisc is run as administrator. You need to right-click MagicDisc.exe on Windows Explorer, and click "Run As Administrator" to run. And yeah, I did that, but the same dialog box appears. :| So, I right-clickedOffice2010ProPlus.ISO, surprised to see that I am able to extract the files in the ISO file. I extracted the installation files, then ran setup. And ta-da! Error again about permissions! I decided to run other installers, like, Registry Mechanic 2011, but upon installation, this message appears: C:\Program Files (x86)\Registry Mechanic\unins000.exe An error occurred while trying to rename a file
by AnthonyFiled under: Uninstall One of the most common problems of uninstall errors is that the configuration of the computer has changed. So in general try to make sure http://www.pcauthorities.com/pc-maintenance/uninstaller/how-to-solve-uninstall-errors/ the configuration is the same as when you installed the problematic software. Especially the installation location can be a problem. If you added a drive or changed drive letters somehow, that can be a problem. The same applies to folders. If the installation folder changed, the uninstaller will have problems finding and removing the software. Some programs keep track error 1404. of folders and paths used in and by the program, mostly in the Windows registry. In many cases, these entries in the registry need to be corrected or cleared before uninstalling the program will work. You can try using a registry cleaner to remove the entries and then try to uninstall the software again. What is Uninstall Error 1324? Error error 1404. setup 1324 is a typical example of an installation error. The error can happen when installing or uninstalling software. The most common error message in this case is “Error 1324: The path xxxxxx contains an invalid character”, where ‘xxxxxx’ refers to a folder on your computer. Basically it means that there is a problem with the shell folders. You can manually correct the problem by modifying the registry to correct the path for the program you are trying to uninstall, or you can simply reset all shell folders in the registry. Both require editing of the registry. There are two registry keys in Windows XP and Vista: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders Check both for invalid drive letters and folders and make corrections as required. You can edit the registry or make sure the path exists by re-assigning driver letters and moving folders around. If you edit the registry, it is best to make use of the environment variables as seen in the screenshot. Common programs that can suffer from this type of error are
