evicted from the cluster, and the admin (not knowing clustersvery well) decided to reload the OS on the evicted node. I got it allsquared away once it was loaded, and ran the Cluster Wizard, which wasn'tsuccessful. It stated that the service was unable to start but it wasinstalled. I look in the cluster.log and notice that after it builds thegroups and dependencies for the resources, the following occurs.[RM] Main: Initializing.[RM] Error opening cluster, error 1753.[RM] Main: Initializing.[RM] Error opening cluster, error 1753.[RM] ResMon terminated prematurely, error 1753.[CS] Halting this node to prevent an inconsistency within the cluster.Error status = 1753Thus, I cannot start the cluster service on the second node. =( Mike Rosado [MSFT] 2004-09-02 13:52:59 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Hi Allan,We have found with our customers from past experience, that we could installthe Cluster service properly on Node2. But when we tried to install Clusterservice on Node2 to join Node1, it fails in the same way you're experiencingwriting the same lines in the Cluster Log.When we compare files on both nodes, we have discovered that the filedates/sizes for ClusSvc.exe in \WINNT\Cluster folder were different betweenthe two nodes. To resolve the issue, we reapplied the most current service pack to Node2 soboth nodes would be at the same file dates/sizes and OS level. Then triedto have Node2 rejoin Node1 and it joined/started the service successfully asexpected.--Hope this helps,Mike RosadoWindows 2000 MCSE + MCDBAMicrosoft Enterprise Platform SupportWindows NT/2000/2003 Cluster Technologies====================================================When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader sothat others may learn and benefit from your issue.====================================================This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
