However, you may get more serious problem if you modify registry keys incorrectly. Be careful while modifying registry keys. Visit Microsoft website to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324520 I would suggest you to use Microsoft Office 2013 with Windows 8. #4 01-30-2014, 02:09 AM macropod Windows 7 32bit Office 2010 32bit Administrator Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Canberra, Australia Posts: 14,270 Replacing/adding registry keys/sub-keys for an incompatible application doesn't change the fact that it's incompatible. Aside from the fact the incompatibility goes far deeper than just a few registry entries, all "successfully" installing Office 2000 may achieve is introducing other faults into an otherwise stable system. __________________ Cheers, Paul Edstein [MS MVP - Word] #5 01-30-2014, 03:29 AM Surch50 Windows 8 Office 2000 Novice Join Date: Jan 2014 Posts: 3 Thanks, I'm sure you are right. However, if I purchased Office 2010 would that still need the two missing ODBC file
File_name and location. Verify that you have access to that directory. Error 1305. Error Reading from File: File_name and Location. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Similarly, you may receive the following error messages when you try to install various programs on your Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer: Error 1305. Error reading from file: File_name
Error reading from file: File_name Cause of the Error This error message occurs due to one of the following reasons: CD-ROM media is dirty or damaged. CD-ROM configuration on the system is incorrect. Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) installation on your PC is either damaged or outdated. Resolution Methods Use the following methods in the sequence given to resolve the problem. After performing the steps in each method, check to see if the error is resolved. If yes, then stop, otherwise, proceed to the next step. Method 1: Check your CD/DVD The error might occur if the setup CD or DVD is dirty. Use a CD/DVD cleaning kit or a lint-free cotton cloth to clean the media side of the disk from the center of the disk to outside. Do not use a cotton cloth as that might damage the disk. Also, ensure that your CD or DVD is not scratched because scratches may make media on the disk unreadable. Also, ensure that you are inserting a DVD in a DVD drive only and not a CD-Drive. Method 2: Use another drive to test your CD/DVD To ensure the CD/DVD drive on your computer is working fine, check your CD/DVD on another drive. If the disk works fine on the other drive, then the drive on your PC might be malfunctioning. You may also try to use a disk cleaning solution to clean the drive to see if that helps in fixing the error. If cleaning does not help, you may have to get your CD-drive repaired or replaced to resolve the error. Method 3: Close any unnecessary programs running on the system. Security programs such as antivirus, antispyware and firewall may interfere during the CD/DVD read operation. This is why you should close these programs before starting the installation process. Method 4: Ensure that you have required and updated drivers installed on the system. Check with your CD-drive manufacturer and Microsoft Know
