Run-time error 2501 P: 15 sassy2009 Hello, I am running an insert query from visual basic runtime error 2501 xl spreadsheet using the DoCmd.RunSQL to insert values from the spreadsheet into the Access database. runtime error 2501 openform action was canceled When i run this query it gives an error saying " Run-time error 2501 RunSQL action was cancelled". I know why this runtime error 2501 the outputto action was cancelled is happening and it's because of the message box that appears when an action query is run in Access which asks for a confirmation from the user "yes" or "no" buttons. But when i run the query

from Spreadsheet, Access assumes "no" for the message box and cancels the RunSQL. How do I handle this error. If I ran the same query in Access itself it gives me the same "2501" error when I clicked on the "NO" button. Please help..... Nov 3 '09 #1 Post Reply ✓ answered by topher23 Well, the reason the new code doesn't have the same issue is easy enough to be seen here. With the run time error 2501 access old code, you actually opened an instance of Access in order to enter your data, which triggered the confirmation dialog for the action query. In the new code, you are referencing your database as a data source without actually opening Access, thus bypassing any protections built into Access. Therefore, the new code doesn't trigger the confirmation dialog, since there is no instance of Access open for it to trigger from. @sassy2009 Well, strike that stuff about dialog boxes, I just found your answer. When you have an open Excel workbook in Office 2007, and the workbook opens an Access instance, it apparently opens the database as read-only! No one on any other forum had any suggestions of how to make it not do this. So, the code you found is the only code that will work in this case, as it doesn't actually open Access. Click on the Edit/Find tab and, near the top left corner, you'll see the "Confirm" group. Uncheck "Action queries." In all of my projects, I only keep "Document deletions" checked. If the problem is indeed that dialog box, this should take care of your is

The database is stored on the network drive and is accessed by multiple users. One user has been having troubles just recently in using a search form I created on the database (his screenshot with the error is attached). Over the last month, when he tries to use the http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?1215163-Run-time-Error-2501 search form, he will occasionly get this error message. When you click the Search button, the form is supposed to pull up a report that is based on a query that has its criteria from the form (hope that makes sense). But he (and as far as I know, only he) has been having this problem. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Has anyone seen this problem before? And, more importantly, does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Run Time error 2501 most often occurs when something is Canceled. For example, if a report is sent to the printer using the OutputReport action and the user hits cancel while it is spooling, it will return error 2501, which you can trap. Also, if the OpenForm method is called and something causes the form to cancel opening (either Cancel was set to True dur

I have a form that allows the user to click on a button that will run reports. The reports will automatically run and then output to PDF files that are saved to variable assigned folder paths. At random, I will get an error "Run time Error 2501, ouput to pdf action was cancelled". It just started occurring yesterday after I decided to rerun some reports after making changes to some of the field values in a related table. Normally, when rerunning the reports, the old PDF reports are replaced with the latest PDF reports and there are no errors. Then, yesterday, I suddenly began getting the Run time error 2501 at random and the error stated that "the output to PDF action was cancelled. It didn't occur with every PDF report that was being replaced...only with some reports and it varied each time with regard to the reports that it would err out. It wasn't with the same reports each time I ran the process. Very strange. Once I cleared all of the old files from the folders where the reports output to, the errors would stop and everthing would run just fine. Here is the twist... I reran all reports again this morning two times and I did not get the error one time. I never cleared out the folders and I left the previous files there to be replaced by the newly generated PDF reports. It ran just fin
