[link to this post] Picked up a Vodafone TopUp and Go USB modem (K3565) http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/mobilebroadband/3696752-vodafone-mobile-connect-lite-on-windows-7-anyone.html?page=12 yesterday and I'm having a problem installing Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite onto my Dell Inspiron http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/25053-Vodafone-3G-data-card-Software-installation-fails 1525 laptop running Windows 7 RC. Installation seems to start off OK but terminated with a pop up "Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action." Looking through forum.vodafone.co.uk, a couple of previous entries suggest registering vbscript.dll using regsvr32, but when I do that I simply get a message suggesting a previous version has been superceded, and attempting error 2738 to install the VMC again terminates in identical fashion. I have posted an entry into the vodafone forum but replies are a little slow forthcoming. Anyone here seen similar and/or have any suggestions/solutions? (Indeed can anyone confirm that VMC Lite will run on Windows 7 RC.) Spasch(experienced) Tue 01-Sep-09 21:49:05 Re: Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite on Windows 7 anyone? [re: petethegeek] [link to this post] I can confirm that it works on Windows 7 RC - error 2738 vodafone I ran it for a good few months before upgrading to the RTM version (64bit).. Have you tried running as Administrator? Or using the compatibility options? EDIT: Your post reminded me that I hadn't installed MC Lite and I am now getting the same error as you, even trying with 'Run as Administrator' and compatibility modes.. [re: Spasch] [link to this post] It works absolutely fine on Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 64-bit for me. In fact I'm doing some speed testing right now (results to follow!) I get as far as: 1) Put the CD in and enter Service Provider (SA -Vodacom), Language (English) and click on Next 2) Pass the requirement Test (All with OK) and click Next 3) Accept Licence agreement, actual Installshield app starts, click on Next 4) Enter user name, Organisation & Install for Anyone .. click Next 5) Select Install.. after about 90% I get an error message: "Vodafone Mobile Connect Installer Information: Internal Error 2738", press OK, which aborts the installation... My Hardware / Software config is: - IBM Thinkpad T40 - Windows XP (SP2 + all upgrades) - Logged in as admin - Novatel Merlin U630 3G Data card - Dashboard software version 5.00.17_0A After checking IBM's, Novatels and Vodafone/Vodacom FAQ I'm still lost.. Any help is appreciated..
