Error Code 2738 Installing Citrix Receiver
vote Hello, I have been trying to install my 2012 version of AutoCAD for several months now. I get
Microsoft Fix It 50842
halfway through the final install process when an error message comes up: "Internal Error 2738". I know it has something to do with the VBScript. So far, I have tried everything I https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Internal-Error-2738.html could find, except changing the registry. I would love to know if there is something else I can do before I go doing something that could potentially ruin my computer. I have backed it up on my external hard-drive and I am willing to try just about anything. I need this software for my studio class, and I need it ASAP! That said, have you tried this? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15102758&linkID=9240617 And, if that doesn't work, this: http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2011/07/error-2738-installation-could-not-access-vbscript-run-time-for-custom-action.html The Registry entries that it directs you to remove seem unlikely to kill Windows. If you're worried about it, export them before you delete them. You can re-insert them later if there's a problem. (It's easier than a full Registry backup.) the error occurs the setup process will fail to complete. Note: You may also encounter this error message while installing certain third-party applications on Windows Vista. Cause of the Error On Windows Vista, the Windows Installer utility does not load the script engines that are registered in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry key for security reasons. In technical terms, when this happens, normal users get an elevated access to execute their libraries as script engine. However, this happens only if the custom action is not attributed explicitly with msidbCustomActionTypeNoImpersonate (0x0800). This accounts for elevation of privilege attack. In this case, Windows Installer generates error 2738 for type 6 actions or error 2739 for type 5 action. Additionally, the following Windows error is generated: Error 1603: ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE Resolution Methods To resolve this error message, you need to ensure that the DLL files vbscript.dll and jscript.dll are not registered in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER root registry key. If they are, you need to delete them from this location, and re-register the files on the system. Let's go through the steps to perform these actions: On the Start menu, select Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press Enter. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{ B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} Here, if the entry for VBScript exists, delete it. Next, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{ F414C260-6AC0-11CF-B6D1-00AA00BBBB58} Here, if the entry for JScript exists, delete it. Next, open Start menu, select Run, in the Open box, type the following commands one-by-one and then press Enter to re-register vbscript.dll and jscript.dll that exist in the system32 directory. regsvr32 vbscript.dll
