But you found precisely error 2738 fix the right thing to try first, so you've been doing well.Doublechecking something ... when you were reregistering vbscript.dll, were you in \SysWOW64\ or \Win32\ ? For the QuickTime install, I'm pretty sure you'll need to register the 32-bit version of the dll (which is kept in SysWOW64) rather than the 64-bit dll (which is kept in Win32). Vista for some reason dosnt register VBScript. What you have to do is first of all find where vbscript.dll is, mine was in C:\Windows\System32, but I think it changes dependant on your version. Next you need to go to start -> accessories and the right click on command prompt and click "run as administrator", next type http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/19110-found-fix-for-internal-error-2738-install-error/ "cd C:\Windows\System32" (replace the dir if its differnt for you) and then type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll". It should then confirm that vbscript has been registered and everything should work. This will fix a few installs, i found the same problem with itunes as well. Hope this helps,Cheers,JamesWorked for me!Sweaty Back to top #2 walkermore walkermore Newbie Members 1 posts Posted 27 March 2010 - 12:19 AM sounds good to me Back to top #3 Brendon Brendon Digiital Guru Digital Guru -8,380,544 posts Gender:Male Location:Christchurch, N.Z. The most likely causes for the problem are a previous installation of the software that hasn't been removed properly or a https://www.techwalla.com/articles/problems-with-interrupted-itunes-installation corrupted installation file. To begin with, make sure you are using the most recent iTunes installation package for your operating system, downloaded from the official Apple website at apple.com.VBScript Error or Error 2738If the installation is interrupted by a message referring to VBScript or error code 2738 this points to a problem with missing or corrupt Visual Basic error 2738 Script files. If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, download the latest VBScript package from the Microsoft website; if you are using Vista or Windows 7, the necessary files should already be installed. Launch a command prompt window from an administrator account and enter "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" to re-register the necessary files with the operating system, then try 2738 windows 7 the iTunes installation process again.Installation Stops at "Registering Modules" StageIf the installation hangs at the "registering modules" stage of the process, it's likely that an anti-spyware program is interfering with the process. One package known to cause this error is SpyCatcher. To attempt to fix the issue, disable your anti-spyware software before launching the installation file. To protect your PC, disconnect it from the Web while the anti-spyware software is disabled -- the iTunes installation package does not need Internet access to complete the program setup."Could Not Open Key" AlertIf an alert stating that iTunes "Could Not Open Key" appears, this suggests you are trying to install the software in a Windows user account without administrator privileges. Try signing in using an administrator account and attempt the installation again. It is also possible that you are attempting to upgrade the software from a different user account to the one used to install iTunes in the first place -- switch back to the original account to see if the problem is fixed.
