One thing I have inherited is an Access database which we use on a daily basis to run reports for customers. Each time it's used, a customer-specific dataset is imported to a table, then update and make-table queries http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=269397 are run to perform various calculations before the data is copied back into Excel to create the final report. The majority of the time this runs fine, but if the initial dataset is large (> 100,000 rows) then we sometimes hit an error "Run Time error 3035 - System Resource exceeded". The solution (up to now) has been to run the same job on an old Windows XP machine, running Access 2003, which seems to be able to handle even the largest datasets. It's only our newer, Windows 7 pcs with Access 2013 which have the problem. Since XP is no longer supported we really need to get the issue with Access 2013 resolved. The process is kicked off from within Excel VBA, which opens our Master database, imports the dataset to the main table, then calls an Access VBA sub-routine, which in turn calls about 60 Access update queries and make-table queries one after the other, using docmd.openquery. So, in Excel we have ; Code: Dim acApp As Object Dim db As Object Set acApp = CreateObject("Access.Application") acApp.OpenCurrentDatabase (m_strDBCopyPath & m_strDBCopyName) 'Set db = CurrentDb a
via AccessMonster.com Guest This seems to be a common problem from looking at all the other postings... Anyway, I have a very simple query that runs fine from the http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/error-3035-system-resource-exceeded.2140420/ database window. However, when this same query is run as part of a http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/mysterious-error-3035-mi-t1292359.html transaction in my code, I get this error. Is there a registry key that needs to be changed to allow for more resource allocation or something? I have plenty of physical memory available and plenty of hard drive space as well. I am not running this off of the network. Also, this error 3035 database is linked to different back-end database files from time to time and then this query is run. Smaller database files cause no problem. The problem only seems to occur on one larger file that may use more resources for the transaction than the smaller files do. I've compacted and repaired both the larger data file as well as the front-end file and the problem still system resource exceeded persists. I changed it from the default value of 9500 to 50000 and it resolved the issue. -- Message posted via AccessMonster.com http://www.accessmonster.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/access-modules/200509/1 oozyscab via AccessMonster.com, Sep 15, 2005 #2 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask your own question?
