Error 404 Apache
have just installed apache (# pacman -S apache)Configured httpd.comf, and created 2 virtual error 500 apache hosts with extra/httpd-vhosts.confWhen I believed every thing was ok, I have started Apache as root (# apachectl start)Started ok, no error 503 apache errors (also tried start it as user with sudo, and /etc/init.d/httpd start)So when I go to http://localhos (or the virtual host) I allways get Access forbidden Error 403I have set 777 permissions
Error 403 Apache Xampp
to /srv/http and the virtual host (/home/username/local-web/site1.dev)I have tried every thing , changed dir owners to "http:http" ...At the Apache error log I get: "[Thu Oct 29 02:39:48 2009] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (13)Permission denied: access to / denied" There is a very simple plain index.html file at /srv/http and the virtual host, all file/dir permissions very permisive... so that can't be the problem.Am I missing some
Apache Tomcat 403 Forbidden
thing? Do I need to manually create the "http" user and/or add it to some group? But when I am trying access any page, it is giving 404 Not Found error. So I believe it is now mod rewrite issue. I have already enabled it. So do I need to write any code for mod rewrite? –pixelngrain Dec 14 '14 at 12:42 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote here for a quick overview of the site Help Center Detailed answers to any questions you might have Meta Discuss the workings and policies of this site About Us Learn more about http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18447454/apache-giving-403-forbidden-errors Stack Overflow the company Business Learn more about hiring developers or posting ads with us Stack Overflow Questions Jobs Documentation Tags Users Badges Ask Question x Dismiss Join the Stack Overflow Community Stack Overflow is a community of 4.7 million programmers, just like you, helping each other. Anyway, I've come to add another vhost. I edited the /etc/hosts file with 127.0.0.1 project3 and also updated the httpd-vhosts.conf file by copy and pasting the previous entries for project2 and editing the file path. I've checked all the file and folder permissions error 403 apache (in fact I copied and pasted from project2) and simply put a "hello world" message in the index.php file. I get a 403 forbidden permission denied message when accessing http://project3 Why is this, I just can figure out what step I've missed as everything seems to be set up correct. Thanks in advance. html apache vhosts share|improve this question asked Aug 26 '13 at 15:16 m0atz 5683721 Did you restart Apache? –EmCo Aug 26 '13 at 15:31 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 14 down vote accepted Check that : Apache can physically access the file (the user that run apache, probably www-data or apache, can access the file in the filesystem) Apache can list the content of the folder (read permission) Apache has a "Allow" directive for that folder. There should be one for /var/www/, you can check default vhost for example. Additionally, you can look at the error.log file (usually located at /var/log/apache2/error.log) which will describe why you get the 403 error exactly. Finally, you may want to restart apache, just to be sure all that configuration is applied. This can be generally done with /etc/init.d/apache2 restart. On some system, the script will be called httpd. Just figure out. sApache Error Codes
