my experiences here in the hopes that it will help someone out there. I submitted a trouble ticket using the iTunes automated trouble ticket system and after some explaining got this solution from apple: 1) Quit https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4831 iTunes. 2) Follow the instructions in the "Remove the SC Info folder" section of this article: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n306424 3) After removing the SC Info folder, reopen iTunes. 4) Choose Check for Purchases from the Store menu. 5) If prompted, enter your account name and password, then click the Check button. 6) After the movie finishes downloading, choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu. 7) Enter your account name and password, then click the http://interactive.usc.edu/2008/03/27/itunes-movie-rental-error-42110/ Authorize button. Funny thing is, I had to swap steps 4,5 and 6,7 in order to get the error to go away. So the instructions should read in order 1,2,3,6,7,4,5. unknown error occurred (-42110)." after starting iTunes 11 on that computer for the first time under that user account. The problem was solved by renaming the folder C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info (Windows 7). I renamed it but you can delete it. The folder was recreated automatically. http://planken.org/2013/03/itunes-unknown-error-occurred-42110 With XP you'll find that folder here: c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info TechnologyiTunes Add http://hints.binaryage.com/itunes-error-3001-42110-5103 new comment Comments Anonymous | 3 years ago 1 Perfect solution. Thelanorth | 3 years ago 9 I can't see it, but if I click on properties it says i contains 3 files. I can only see iPoddevices.xml and I'm on Window 8 Stephan | 3 years ago 10 The folder is hidden so you'll need Explorer to show hidden files and folders. For Windows 8: in Explorer, select the VIEW tab and check the checkbox for "Hidden Files" on the right. For XP: in Explorer, select the "Tools" menu, then "Folder Options". In the "View" tab check the radio button "Show Hidden Files and Folders". For Windows 7: in Explorer, select the "Folder and Search Options". In the "View" tab check the radio button "Show Hidden Files and Folders". On XP the folder is just marked "hidden" and not as a "system" folder so assuming that it's the same under other versions of Windows that should do it. Sorry for not mentioning this. Anonymous | 3 years ago 11 Genius!. Shmeggley | 3 years ago 12 This error started happening after I reinstalled iTunes to solve another problem, and occurred every time I opened iTunes afterwards. This solution worked perfectly. I did notice that I was prompted to reauthorize next time I opened iTunes. Stephan | 3 years ago 13 Thanks for the feedback.
