I'm piggy-backing onto this help message and hope that there is an answer somewhere out there. I subscribe to Audible .com and used to use Audible Manager to burn audiobooks to CD. Now with the iPOD I use the software that imports the books directly into iTunes. Apparently I can't have both. I've created a playlist for the Audible file, acknowledged that I want it burned as an Audio CD, inserted a brand new CD-R in my CD drive and have successfully burned the first part. When it finishes, I am asked to insert the next disk and after a few minutes, this one fails. This has happened with three different books, always on the second disk. The error message I get is the same as the one Michelle reported. I can find no mention of this on the apple support site. What is happening? Sometimes this problem appears when you update iTunes, or are not using the newest version. First, check for an iTunes update by clicking Tools menu, then Check for Update. If you need one, follow the instructions to update. If that doesn't help, follow these instructions, from the HP website. They are for a particular kind of CD burner but have helped with other models too. Take care to follow them precisely. 1. Close iTunes and any other files and software that are open. 2. Click Start , My Computer , Drive C: , Program Files , iTunes , and CD Configuration to view the files in the CD Configuration folder. 3. Locate the file gcdrtype.cfg in the CD Configuration folder. 4. Right-click the file gcdrtype.cfg . 5. In the drop-down menu, click Open (you may need to select Notepad ) to edit the file gcdrtype.cfg in Notepad . 6. In th

CDs. It starts to initialize, then it says "canceling disc burn," and then I get an error message that reads "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred. (4280)." It's always been like that, and up until now, I've just been using my pre-iPod MusicMatch software to burn CDs, but now with all my playlists organized in iTunes, it would be so much easier if it would just work. Anyone know what the deal is? I've tried two different brands of blank disks. Posted by: sarah | February 04, 2005 at 06:41 PM I was able to burn to a cd once but haven't been able to since. I also get the same error message. I actually was able to burn via itunes, but it doesn't work anymore. I didn't install anything new on that PC, except Windows-Updates. Posted by: someone | April 03, 2005 at 05:58 PM After months of trouble free burning, I got this same error this morning. I also tried the Sony fix even though my drive's a different company (since everything's basically made by two companies it may well be Sony). No go. Anyone find a fix?
