We’re getting reports across the board that many are having issues updating to the latest version of Apple’s iOS software, released today. The issues seem to center around the point at which iTunes contacts Apple’s servers to verify and activate the update process. Reason This error happens when iTunes tries to contact Apple's servers to verify the firmware while Apple's servers is facing heavy traffic since iOS 5.0 sees the light few hours ago. So you have only to keep trying to restore iOS 5 or Follow the guide below How to Fix Error Go to iTunes and download the new iTunes 10.5[Windows]. Install the new iTunes and restart your PC. Now navigate to the following folder on your PC C:\users\”UserName”\appdata\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\ Now copy the ipsw file and paste it to desktop. [do not cut or delete] Now navigate to "Start > cmd.exe > right-click > select ‘Run as Administrator' At the command prompt type, cd drivers [press Enter] cd etc [Press Enter] notepad hosts[Press Enter]
