I have a Thinkpad T60 and about six months ago was suddenly unable to use my Vodafone Vodem so I tried my old Vodafone card modem and it wouldn't work either. Even tried my Sony phone with a cable and it wouldn't work. When I've travelled for the last six months I have had to take my old T42 with me and all the modems work fine with that laptop. I have tried many solutions to this and wasted countless hours. Today I fina

You may need to speak to the ISP as well if they have anything special being used. But this is a security related issue so look at what is different on this unit as apposed to the others.Col 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - Not a Security Issue by Sawan Gupta · 9 years ago In reply to Look at the Security Sett ... It doesn't seems like a security issue, since I am able to use other machine to connect to network using the same hardware, logon credentials.Still I talked with ISP, they said check with your hardware vendor. And Hardware vendor was unable to determine any problem with drivers or hardware. And he suggested the unwanted method of format and reinstallation which I don't want to do. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - When I said Security Settings I meant Local Settings by OH Smeg · 9 years ago In reply to Not a Security Issue Not Domain or Network Settings but the Security Settings on the IBM Think Pad.There will be something in there that is different to the remaining hardware that works.Col 0Votes Share Flag Collapse -
connection, it went like this: - Modem would pick up the phone and dial. - Carrier sounds / handshaking would occur. - Username and password were checked and verified. - Then it would disconnect with an error error 720 code of "720" More on the message: Error 720 - the connection attempt failed because your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocol. I had tried every fix I could find. Removing the Winsock error 720 windows and Winsock2 keys, re-installing TCP/IP, and running a series of commands using the "netsh" tool. None of that worked. What seemed to work: "WAN Miniport (IP)" seemed to be messed up some how. It was listed twice in Device Manager. I had to remove the keys for the two entries from the registry, then I could remove the devices from Device Manager. I had to use the "devcon" command to re-install the "WAN Miniport (IP)" device. The command to restore the WAN Miniport (IP) device was: devcon.exe install %windir%\inf\netrasa.inf MS_NdisWanIp You can get DEVCON.EXE (32-bit and 64-bit) from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272/ You can get more info on this from here: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread18016.html Home Log in Copyright © 1999-2016 XdN
