Error 720 A Connection To The Remote Computer Could Not Be Established Windows 8
PPTP, L2TP, etc. Sure, you have already searched for the right way to fix the error and definetely tried the commands: netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log netsh int ipv6 https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-XP-and-Vista-discussion/Error-720-Dial-Up-Networking-could-not-negotiate-a-compatible/td-p/15304 reset reset.log And they didn't work, saying the access is denied. So, here are the steps you may follow to reset TCP/IP protocol in windows 8 and fix the 720 error: Download Process Explorer from Windows Sysinternals website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us//sysinternals/bb896645.aspx Unzip and run it. Uncheck all operations, but the windows registry ones. Add two Filters from the Filter menu in Process Explorer. http://en.remontka.pro/error-720-windows-8-and-8-1-solved/ The First one should include process named netsh.exe, and the second — the result "ACCESS DENIED" (I used capital letters, not sure if it is necessary) Press Windows + X buttons on your keyboard and run Command Line as Administrator. Run the netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log command. It will not be able to complete all the necessary actions to reset the IPv4 protocol, but you will see a line in process explorer, telling you which parameter in windows registry failed to change. Press Windows + R buttons, type regedit to run registry editor. Navigate to the registry key from process monitor, click it with the right mouse button and select "Permissions". Set it to "Full Access", then click Ok. Repeat that netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log command. It will now work well. Repeat steps 5-7 with netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log command. Run netsh winsock reset command in coomand line. Restart your computer That's it, the error 720 shouldn't appear any more. adapter issues dial-up error 720 and network adapter issues New 13 Apr 2012 #1 k29000 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Newbie Join Date : Apr 2012 Posts : 8 Vista Business 32bit SP3 Local Time: 07:52 dial-up error 720 and network adapter issues When I try to connect to my dial-up connection, just after it says "Registering your computer on the network" I get error 720: a connection to the remote computer could not be established. I have contacted my isp, and the issue apprears to be on my end, not theirs Additionally in my network adapters: you can see the yellow-marked adapters in this screenshot http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x374/K29000/network_adapters.jpg have errors: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I am not sure if that is related to my dial-up problem. They all seem to be duplicates of network adapters that are working fine. (Except they say "eacfilt miniport" at the end) I have tried uninstalling these duplicates which I think are leftovers from some other software that I may have had installed at some point(It says the vendor is Nortel but I no longer have any Nortel software on this machine), but they will not remove. I can still connect to the internet fine via a usb 3G modem that I have borrowed. Although, when I do it gives me a message that "another computer on the network has the same IP address as this one" but after closing the message, the internet still works fine. I have been unable to check whether the ethernet and wifi works correctly. The last time I used them was about a year ago. I'm on Vista Business 32 bit SP3.
